'free' International calls from your mobile

PTLD Posts: 156 Forumite
I posted a while ago about this service i read about (here I think) making free international calls on my mobile using my inclusive minutes by dialing 07744 974333....(https://www.simply-fone.com)

anyway, i used it quite a bit recently & received my first bill from vodafone including this.
Was shocked :o to see I was charged :'( for ALL these calls to 07744974333 by them.

I phoned them up [191 from my mobile] & also sent them strong email complaining & received back this morning an extrmely pleasant email (*& a phonecall-back too) confirming that these calls are indeed FREE CALLS using inclive cross network minutes and I WOULD receive a credit for all these calls ;D

So if anyone does get charged for thesze calls.... i'm happy send them the email i rec from vodafone. :)

    Soicher, an interesting post.

It is my opinion that readers of this thread, come into three catergories.

    1) those who fully understand how everything works and somehow are able to take in every bit of information presented. 2) Then there are those who read, half understand, half retain the information but are reluctant to try, as in "use free minutes to call overseas" just in case they do something wrong and get charged for the call. 3) then we have those people who are here for what may be their first time and
cannot believe all they read and fit into the catergory of "where's the catch?".

So, for what it's worth, I think there is nothing wrong with the odd "repeat question/information" and equally it is great and reassuring when someone posts that these things actually do work. Island man

    thank you island_man.

I fully understand readers reluctance to 'try' something that looks too good to be true, but every now & again nuggets of brilliant information/ real money-saving advice and terrific posts make these websites wonderfully informative.......MONEYSAVINGEXPERT.COM being - in my humble opinion - the pick o' the bunch!

Thanks to all of you & to the person who posted this 07744974333 number.... cheers... you've saved me about £100+ so far! ;D

  • Rabia I get that too. It used to work and work really well, even with numbers which weren't listed. for example I regularly rang peoples mobiles in portugal. It was so wierd to be walking along the highstreet speaking to my mother whils tshe was using her mobile as though she was down the road, and not caring about the cost of the call. It was sensational, so I'm very unhappy to find that 'three' seem to have cottoned on to this. :(

    This needs clarification.

The 07744 9 access number is a mobile type number issued to Inquam Telecom (Holdings) Limited.

It will only be inclusive within your free minute bundle when the free minutes are inclusive of cross-network numbers.

It will not be free when the free minute bundle includes only on-network or landline numbers.

If you do not have free cross-network minutes inclusive within your bundle, then your network service provider will tariff you for a call made to the 07744 9 number at the cross-network rate.
  • to clarify:-
i have cross network mins with 3 network and the above no. is not recognised
any alternatives no. would be helpful
    thanks
does inquam...... have a web site, i could not find it.
i want to ask them why this no. is not recognised by 3 network and ask them for an alternative no.

  • btw is the above no. on the orange network?
if so , would it be better if i got orange pay as you go and i would be able to make cheap int. calls i.e. as they would be via same network?
oh dear! i hope this is not confusing :D:D:D

When you say this number is not recognised by 3, do you mean that they have no tariff for it or do you mean you cannot successfully dial a number by using it?

The 07744 9 number is a mobile number, but not one of Orange, Voda, 02 or TMobiles. Therefore, cross-network with 3 (and the other mobile networks) may only mean cross-network to Orange, Voda, 02 or TMobiles.

    boatman...

send me a private message with yr personal email address or a fax number & i'll be happy to.

i understanfd that '3' currently does not include any calls to the 07744 network as x-network minutes... - the ONLY operator not to do so!
Probably because they're too lazy & incompetent to bother to do so.

i must say i'm biased as I had a 3 contract which i have just 'forgotten' about as the quality of calls & customer service & billing was totally hopeless. Have gone back to using just my vodafone which is excellent, as ever.
