    T Cut - DON'T DO IT!!

This is one of the WORST 'old favourites' in lots of peoples garages!!

It wouldn't suit your finish anyway!!!!

& reasons NOT to use it,(on the car/anywhere) you'll find that it actually destroys your paintwork. It contains amonia - you'll possibly be physically sick using in a confined space & certainly not want it near food areas.

There are far more efficient bodywork enhancing products around, rather than T cut https://www.meguiars.co.uk is my current favourite, but thats not what we're on about, I know.

& the idea of a repaint isn't too much of a bad idea - but all the messing around, without a door on the fridge, might be!!

Will hold off on the T-cut for now....or at least I might try it on somewhere that cant be seen, will let you know . But I am tempted to agree that it wont help blend the scratches.

Fridge an enormous American style so cant move it !! Will see guy on way to school next week and ask his opinion ..... might just be lucky

    thanks all

thinks ........said child's blood mixed with grey paint?????

I shouldn't think a small dab o' T-Cut on a cloth will gas you, but on second thoughts if the finish on the fridge is matt, I wouldn't bother - might be more successful if the finish is laquered though...

I have to say thats a load of pap, T-Cut is fine on cars as you wipe it on
then wipe it of after a few seconds and new paint theses days is 2-pack
    Isosyanate which is amonia protected....

  • Hello,

Its difficult to actually vizulise the extent of the damage but if the scratches are quite fine, not to deep then T-Cut may do the job. I used this when restoring an old MGB some years ago. You will need to go carefully however and then treated part and the surrounding areas will need to be re-painted and/or polished to bring back a good overall finish.

An alternative option and one that I would probably persue since it sounds as if its an expensive fridge, is to contact the manufacturers and get a quote for a replacement door. They are easily removed and new one would take just a few minutes to put on.

    Hope this helps.

Along the same lines as the suggestion by GreenFingers, why not contact the manufacturer and ask for a sample/match pot/spray can of the exact colour match silver paint so that you can do your own touch up repair?

This would be a cheaper option to buying a new door and you never know, the manufacturer might even send it free of charge if you tell them how pleased you are with their product.;)

  • I would try the manufacturer for a replacement as well, especially if your friend paying for the damage?
