I told my 9 yr old off last week when he came back from a birthday party and told me he had eaten 4 sausages, 2 chicken nuggets, his chips as well as someone elses. I told him he was greedy - I don't think he knows where the 'stop eating' button is. At home, he doesn't stop eating. He is short for his age, but is certainly not carrying any excess weight! From this, at least I know I am not alone in having boys who would eat all day.

If he's not experiencing any other symptoms, he's probably got what every other young male seems to have - hollow leg syndrome. ;)

My brother was simply known as gannet when he was younger. In the fridge every 5 minutes, as if something will have magically appeared since the last time he looked.

I said exactly the same thing on friday. DS who is 8 in October but about 4ft10 and a size 3 shoe

For example Friday he had breakfast which was toast and cereal. Dinner was a cheese, ham salad sandwich with crisps and a mousse, off to Nannies for tea. It was only when we gave him tortillas and dip and he had helped himself to chocolate in the night that he said, I had a barby in Nan's, I had chops, potatoes, potatoe salad, rice, salad, pitta bread, oh then some chips, then more rice, I had 3 burgers and two sausages then more potatoes and an icey:eek: There are days when he seems to eat non stop and then others he might be 'normal' Sundays are feast day with roast dinners, both him and DD eat more than me, they try and get me to make 24 yorkshires!!

He is not overweight, just a big lad. Looks like we might be creating a generation of human bins!

THATS the sort of thing my son does!!!! He'll have dinner at his Dads house, and then 'neglect' to mention that he's already eaten when he gets home to me!
You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

He's sounds pretty normal to me!

I've got two boys who are 9 and 11 now. They've been on adult sized portions of food since they were about age 6-7, and some days they eat more than I do.

We went on an all inclusive holiday back in May, and all the meals were self service, plus there were snacks available all day. They'd eat massive platefuls of food and go back for seconds and desserts for lunch, then we'd spot them mid-afternoon at the burger bar or getting ice creams, then they'd eat another huge evening meal.

Don't know where they put it as they are both skinny. The eldest is seriously skinny and you can see his ribs and hip bones sticking out when he's naked. They're both very healthy though - always full of beans and hardly ever ill.
Here I go again on my own....

I could have written your post. My own 8 1/2 yo is exactly the same. He eats his tea and 5 mins later is asking for a sandwich. He is so skinny you can see his ribs when he breathes in. We went to a family wedding this w/end and he asked if instead of the kids meal, he could have the adult meal that was going spare (guest not turned up) and ate the lot! I have told him I will be selling him when he's a teenager cos I won't be able to afford his food bill.;)

My boy is 15, he never stops eating, to be honest its sooo annoying sometimes, sorry if that sounds wrong!! My best advice, and what ive found to be best is to have lots of cereal and milk in, hes not overweight in the slightest, in fact it isnt fair how skinny he is lol, id like to say he takes after me ( i take that back, of course hes skinny like me!!???!!!). Cereal is the best thing, the healthy kinds, its cheapish and its healthy, just stash a few boxes away for the other kids lol x

I have 3 boys. If I hear the mantra "I'm starving" once, I must hear it about 5 times in a day. People cannot believe the portions my kids will eat - my youngest is only 3 (usually this is people with girls though).

I can easily go through a loaf a day, and that is without me or my hubbi having a slice of bread. However, I never waste food, everything is eaten and none of my kids are fat. I also go through stacks of fruit, so hey, everyone must need it. It does cost a fortune especially when we are out for a meal. We have a carvery restaurant near us -price £3.25 each child and £3.50 an adult - as much veg as you like. All my kids certainly get their (our) money's worth.

Unless it's something like bran flakes (and lets face it - what teenage boys eat that?) cereal is one of the most common foods that leave you starving hungry an hour later, especially the sugary nonsense kids like. It's also rather addictive and even those that aren't total gannets often end up having another bowl...also, if they'e anything like my brother they use about half a pint of milk for one bloody bowl!

Porridge is the best cereal wise - you might also want to switch to wholemeal versions of bread, pasta, rice etc. Rice and pasta isn't that noticeable once covered in sauce. If bread raises issues, then get the white with added fibre.

ohhhhhh 0 my DS i s the same - he is 19 now 6ft 5 and forever hungry. he's not overweight either. Having said that my DD can also go through phases where she will eat everythign and anything all day and she is 17, 5ft 10 and a size 8 - 10. Just one of those things I suppose !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
