My son is six and eats everything he's given and will often ask for more. He'll have a dinner and 1/2 hour later will ask for something else. He's stick thin and very active, but I think it's just a boy thing.

I tried calling his bluff once after he'd asked for more food after lunch one day and told him that all I had were carrots that I could boilup for him. His reply......"Okay, Mum. Thanks!" You can't win!

It might because he's bored? Or is it just me that eats when they're bored?

An aunt of mine had 4 boys, all close together, she couldn't keep them fed.

The eldest & his friends (the rugby team) got barred from a restaurant, the all you can eat buffet in Pizza Hut:rotfl:

Manager said he couldn't throw them out, but he didn't want them in again:D

Oh lordy! it is just a 'boy' thing then?

Thing is, its costing me a fortune in food, it really is. Im doing a 'big shop' once a week, and then im still picking up 'bits' every day too....
You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

He's not overweight, and hes very active

This is the key - if he's not putting on weight, he's okay. Just for peace of mind check for worms but it's probably just him being a growing boy!

  • my sister's boy is getting like that - he wants to eat constantly. he's not fat, and to be honest i think his mum's worrying about him possibly getting fat is making him stubborn and turning it into a battle. he's 11 and possibly growing or getting ready for puberty or something.

he truly is hungry because he will eat anything you offer him. he likes coming to my house because i always have lots of berries in the fridge. he really hoovers them up though - i reckon he eats 3 times as much as my 12 year old.

I think as long as he's not putting on weight then he must need it ....

But would advise thinking about how to bulk out meals with lentils/beans etc :)

i have twin boys who are 13 now, and they have always eaten a lot, and would eat all day too if left alone lol. they are both very active, and very tall, almost 6 feet, and size 14 shoes  so as others have said, so long as he's not overweight, then it must be a boy thing

Oh thank you all so much for your replies! Ive been worrying myself stupid over this the last week or so... I suppose its not so 'obvious' when hes in school, but since the holidays started, i notice it more cause he's with me all the time, if that makes sense?

I said exactly the same thing on friday. DS who is 8 in October but about 4ft10 and a size 3 shoe

For example Friday he had breakfast which was toast and cereal. Dinner was a cheese, ham salad sandwich with crisps and a mousse, off to Nannies for tea. It was only when we gave him tortillas and dip and he had helped himself to chocolate in the night that he said, I had a barby in Nan's, I had chops, potatoes, potatoe salad, rice, salad, pitta bread, oh then some chips, then more rice, I had 3 burgers and two sausages then more potatoes and an icey:eek: There are days when he seems to eat non stop and then others he might be 'normal' Sundays are feast day with roast dinners, both him and DD eat more than me, they try and get me to make 24 yorkshires!!

He is not overweight, just a big lad. Looks like we might be creating a generation of human bins!
