Money Moral Dilemma. Would you keep the lottery ticket?

If I saw her drop it then I would give it back. However if I saw it on the floor after she had left the lift how would I know if it were hers (the supposed winning ticket' or not???:hello:0

Good lord, there's a few hard-hearted people here! I'd certainly give the ticket back. I would HOPE for a decent reward, maybe 10%, but I certainly couldn't keep the ticket.
Ask yourselves a separate question. If an old man dropped his pension book containing a week's cash, would you keep that? This isn't really any different.
Not quite the same. Thats his income whereas the lottery win is a bonus !!
You may as well just give her the original cost of the ticket back if youre using that as an argument !!:hello:0 -
I'd chase after her instantly. That would be theft of the cruellest kind to keep the ticket.0

Ah, but TBH it is, because the old man's pension money is his regular income that he has just cashed in - this is a winning lottery ticket that is an unexpected bonus.
Sorry guys, on the whole I'm a selfless caring person, but in this credit crunch world of debt and belt tightening it's dog eat dog for me I'm afraid.
I'm prob on the same wavelength as sharp_eyes said above - if she was still in the lift with me I MIGHT point it out to her, but there's no way I'd chase after her, probably only to receive a watery 'oh thanks very much' in return! Chances are she's minted anyway - I can't even afford a bl00dy ticket in the first place ( and no, I don't smoke, drink etc instead...)
You should look after something as important as a winning lottery ticket better than that!!!
*goes off to wait punishment in Hell!!!*0 -
Great minds think alike 'macaroni'! Our posts crossed!0

I'd find her if I could easily, but wouldn't cash the ticket in any case. I know this is a hypothetical case, but if we're talking about the National Lottery, a lost ticket can be reported by the original purchaser as long as they do it quickly (within a month I think) and can remember where / when they got the ticket, etc, and claim the prize even without the original.0

I'd give it back, the same as if I saw somebody drop money from a purse or pocket I would point it out to them.
Who knows what financial difficulties she might be in (although I guess if she was that hard up, she wouldn't be wasting money on a lottery ticket). However, that's beside the point. It's her ticket which she has paid for and to keep hold of it is stealing.0 -
would have to go after her and give it back whether it be £1 or £1,000,000 what goes around comes around0

Mmmmmm tricky one!!!
I think if I saw her drop it I would probably let her know. If she walked out the lift and then I noticed it would I keep it??? I think I probably would.
She should be more careful in future. Anyway probably only worth a tenner!!! :-)0 -
Not a chance - It would be a completely uncontrolled response to grab it and catch up with her to return it. Would never even enter my mind to hold on to it.0
