Sorry to the guys that have requested fundraiser letters/letter drops and are yet to recieve them...i've been really busy although unfortunately not with parties. I had one last night and it was rubbish!!! Little money and no bookings. no one liked the fact that you pay up front and I think every one is feeling the credit crunch. I have no more bookins til the end of the month...although I do have 4....so feeling slightly disappointed! Anyway i'll send those letters out tonight.0

Grrr, my first party has canceled! (Along with my best friend's cancellation, but she did have a good reason) She's going to postpone but that means I don't have one until a week tomorrow when my sister in law is having hers. So I have 4 parties this month. One of which is my skint mate and her teenage daughter and friends which is going to be an utter disaster. I don't think I am going to make my success start 1 let alone 2, I am feeling very depressed about the whole thing, it is obvious I am not the right kind of person to do this.
I will just do the first month, make sure I do £425 and then pack it in.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Try to stay positive. Exactly the same happened to me when I started, 2 of my first 6 cancelled. I'm not saying its great at the moment but I really enjoy doing it and have been ensured that at christmas it really picks up so wait until you have done you parties and then reassess. I hope you feel a bit better later...you will after your first good party (and there will be one)!!0

Thanks pandapop, think I will try catalogue drops so I at least make some sales but I'll do it a bit closer to xmas I think. maybe add in a note for the man of the house and offer to order their Wife/Girlfriend/mother's present and gift wrap it.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

ragz the cat idea sounds like a good one, a friend asked me if i was going to bring the blokes stuff to the party as she would like to smell it to see if she could get it for her bf. I said i didn't think so, but would be interested to hear if any of you often sell the mens stuff?Leopardlady

Hi
Don't pack it in. I have been doing it for just over a year now & have definately had my ups and downs. Here are some idea's to help you reach your sales levels.
Why, don't you search for charities in your area you can find a list online. I searched for charities in Hampshire on Google and found a long list. Give the one's close to you a call, tell them you work for Body Shop & do they realise we do pamper/makeover or xmas party fundraising evenings. Offer them 10 or 15% of your commission plus a raffle prize. You get the sales you need & may get some party bookings on the night. Explain, that you will come on the night & do a demonstration and involve them all in some way. You could give them catalogues in advance to get outside orders,as the more they sell the more they fundraise. Tell them they provide the venue and some coffee & tea & you will do the rest. Obviously, they won't make a decision straight away on the phone, tell them you will call them back in a week's time, once they have had a chance to think about it.
Pop into local Hotels/Pubs that are advertising Xmas functions, get the reception staff on your side, ask nicely, I wonder if you could help me please, do you have a person who purchases function or staff gifts, could I make an appointment to see them please. Give the reception staff a sample each (ie- shimmer body butter, well being sachets) & thank them for their help & leave your details in case they want to book a party. Go dressed in uniform, so you look the part & have a selection of gifts with you in case the Hotel are happy to see you straight away. If you do make an appointment, leave a catalogue, the corporate xmas letter (or a version of it, detailing what you will offer them) & some small sample pots of product which are in the six pound gifts. You could offer them 10% off for spends over 500 pounds or the free shopping for their staff xmas function, up to you. The Xmas bauble idea(clever), above, would also be a good one to leave with the reception staff. The baubles in Marks & Spencer have Chocolates in them and cost less than 2 pounds. Sure, places like Asda would be even cheaper.
With both the above, script what you are going to say and be prepared.
Don't give up, as once you start getting bookings & bringing in the mula you will feel great. Don't take No's personally, just move on to the next one. Hope this helps. :j
Cheers

Hi all, i have just finished my success start and didnt even get to level 1, so quite disappointed. To top it off i did a party last night in a tiny living room full of people whose attention i just couldnt keep, they were wandering out to smoke, chatting over me and i just gave up in the end. needless to say i didnt get any bookings for parties, although the orders were ok. Does anyone else find it hard talking over people, keeping their attention etc?0
