Ah thanks all for your kind tips. Did not realise a lot of young people do these. Can just imagine being all talked over etc by older people

I am living in Liverpool at the moment, although I am from Cheltenham originally.
Sounds like a good little earner. Can you be creative with it as you like? For example making up goody bags if the hosts book a party etc, taking along wine if someone has a large party, etc etc.
    I like creativity.
How long on average does a party last and is it same structure as Ann Summers where they take you through the catalogue and try the hard sell, or can you let people browse and just ask the questions?

Sorry for the the questions, suppose I can ask all this to the lady thats coming to see me tomorrow :)

You can be creative as you like. You can order products from 'supply' where they are really cheap (e.g. at the moment there is coconut body scrub 50ml for 80p when it would cost £5 to a customer) and use them however you like to encourage hosts and guests to do the things you want e.g. book parties and spend lots.
An average party for me starts with me arriving at the hosts venue at 7, I then set up and remind the host about the free shopping and all the free things she wants. Guests arrive at 7.30 and we get started closer to 7.45 then I'll do a game, intro, demo then let them browse the catalogues while I tidy my display then go round encouraging party bookings and trying to increase the sales. Once I've worked out how much the host has won for free shopping and got her to choose what she wants I'll pack up and leave about 10ish. (sometimes I'll pack up while the host is deciding what free stuff she wants which does get me ready a little earlier but it's still about 10 when I leave.

Hi Claire, I also meant to say that as long as you do your 6 parties you don't have to make any certain ammount before you can give up if that's what you want to do, if you don't make £425 then you won't count as a recruit for your AM so she won't get whatever prizes she's aiming for but really that's not your concern, you should make your decisions based on how it goes for you and what you want to do.

    Hi All,

just thought i'd say that although its great to do a party, and do your whole script and everything, sometimes it won't all go to plan!! my first party was sat, and they kept saying more people were coming, and then they were chatting and catching up, so i just put the oil burner on(cranberry) and put all the makeup, body butters and perfume out on the coffee table so they could have a look amoungst themselves, and then just made sure i was listening and avaliable to answer questions - it ended up being a £279 party - so even tho i didn't do a demo or anything, because i was still on hand to talk about the products - the stuff sells itself!

i used to do ann summers claire8370, and i always found if i didn't do a party to the format and go through the catalogue and do the hard sell it was always a crap party, but i think with body shop, as long as the products are there for them to look at and try, and you are avaliable to talk to everyone, then play it by ear really.

    oh, and i'm 25, and i did ann summers when i was 20/21 x
  • OOh thankyou all for that. Sounds great, I dont really fancy the idea of having to reel of a load offabout products to sell them and I guess the products do sell for themselves, body shop stuff is nice.
Does the make up sell well?
Has anyone done a party in a old peoples home/care establishment for people that do not get out much?

Hi claire, I am hoping to do one soon, my AM and the lady who recruited me both do and say it works well. You really can party anywhere if you put your mind to it!
