Hi all, I've been thinking about signing upto this for ages but am a mummy to a 2 year old and have another due in sept. I've not been in the area long and so dont know many people and tbh dont really want to sign up and be pressurised into doing lots of parties!

But I'm sure around xmas time I've heard you can sign up as an xmas kind of seller, get a reduced kit or something and you arent as committed to doing all the parties etc that you normally are? Is this right?

I would love to do it but obviously I have a lot on my mind now so nearer xmas would be better and ofc I'm hoping that I could get a lot of xmas sales from family and friends and then if all went went carry on after the new year or not.

Oh and this thread seems to have died a bit, there used to be lots of chat, has bsah fizzled out a bit or is everyone talking about it elsewhere!

    Thanks all

  • Hi,
September is a good time to join as a seasonal seller.
You will always need four party dates within 4 weeks to join as a consultant though, it is a company requirement to help you start your business off.
    Where abouts are you based?

It just seems like a pyramid selling scheme in that they set targets for the person to recruit so many people each month, hence the agrresive promoting by this lady, she is always saying time is running out on this offer, etc. I understand pyramid selling, its just this seemed so secretive.

They do however have the statutory notice on their website, warning about not making unfounded promises of guaranteed earnings.

    Hi,
I think the consultant has taken her managers words the wrong way.
This is how I would use the £20/12 hours:
"If you can spare £20 and 12 hours in the next month, I can help you turn that £20 into £600. 12 hours is 4 parties, the £600 is £250 in commission, and a possible £400 in products. Give it a month and see if you can make it"

    Hi

I have recently re-joined The Body Shop at Home, and loving it. I was a consultant a few years ago but left to start up my own beauty business, now back to run this alongside my beauty business. My aim is to build up my own team of consultants over the next year.

  • Okay literally have just joined this site in order to give my feedback.

For anyone considering, PLEASE think carefully!
I joined because I wanted experience in the beauty industry as a studying beauty therapist.

Im going to write my views in bullet points because its easier for you all to read.

    1. Startup fee good, £40 for £160+ of product
    2. Delivery costs BAD, £5 for any size delivery
    3. Parties are few and far between depending on where you are based
    4. Consultants fight over customers
    5. Consultants always recruiting, unfortunately the more you recruit the more competition there is....
    6. TBSAH and The Body Shop, are like many high street stores SLOWLY fading away, how much longer they have I don't know
    7. Products okay, not the best quality but not rubbish
    8. There are some perks, but they are quite difficult to get if you struggle with sales
    9. Products are expensive, but there are always offers on

    10. THE BIGGEST ONE in my opinion. We are in competition with the stores and online. They always have offers, no delivery costs etc. Sometimes it IS infact cheaper to buy online rather than with us.

    11. Aggresive selling seems to be the only way to suceed. Almost cheating people of their money, if your happy with doing that then go ahead.
    12. Consultants always have access to 25% products

Think carefully. Don't jump into it. There are pro's and con's. TBH i would much rather actually WORK for my money, and at least when I go to work I KNOW that I am definately getting paid. You go to a party and you don't know if you will definately get orders. It's only 25% comission too, quite low!
My opinion, go out and get a proper job
  • Wow jazzygirly,

I'm so sorry you have had a bad experience with TBSAH.

With direct selling, you get out what you put in. Securing your own clients and getting hosts to re-book works.
I have never fought with another consultant over business and I always check on-line before the party so that I can promote the best value on the evening.
The commission is direct selling standard, but the perks each month for selling are fantastic, also the host rewards are second to none - average party sales will get the host £125 goods for just £30 - no other business offers such great rewards.
The delivery charge is the consultants to pay and a raffle at each party more than covers the delivery charge.

Body Shop, as a whole company was one of the very few which had growth in 2011, so as far as SLOWLY fading away, I think that your opinion is unfounded.

My advice to anyone who is thinking about working for TBSAH is to go for it. You are starting your own business, you will get back what you put in. The only person that stands in your way of success is you.
  • Hi everybody
I'm new to the forum, and wanted to say hello. I have also joined body shop at home and I'm loving it. I am in Frinton on sea in Essex if anyone is near that area and interested in speaking to me.:)
Jazzygirly I find your post interesting but don't agree to all of it I'm afraid. 25% is a pretty good mark up for work from home. I used to own a retail shop, and although we usually got a 50% mark up on our stock, this had to cover all our huge overheads such as rent, rates, utility bills, insurance, advertising:(, ect (you get my drift). If you work your local area your over heads shouldn't be that high and you should come out with a decent profit if you keep busy.
As Mita said, nothing comes easy and you get out of it what you put into it. Do something positive for your business every day is my advice.

The Bodyshop at home gives great incentives and I love the products, they have been going for years and are doing very well from what I can see. I don't think anyone here would be involved in working for a company if you had to cheat anyone for their money? I attended body shop parties before I signed up and I was very happy with the discounts and value for money. Sorry if I sound like an advertisement for the company, it's just that I would hate for people to get the wrong impression. It's currently £40 to join, I have joined work from home MLM companies where the fees were £200 to join, as well as monthly fees for websites, ect and I never received a single free item or incentive. £40 is pretty good considering all the free products you get.

Anyway not to harp on, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and it's great to see how many people have posted on this forum. I'm still wading my way through all the old posts!
Looking forward to sharing tips in the future :)

    Hiya everyone,
I'm very interested in becoming a consultant for TBSAH.
But was just wondering how you pay for the kit, do you order it online or do you have a person come to your house to talk you through how you join and you give them the money? lol

    Thank You! :)
