My chief Exec wants to set up a web site for a consultancy service. I will create it no problem but I wanted some advice on Hosting.
Cost is not the primary consideration. He wants a good UK host where he has a full control panel and 10 pop 3 mail boxes. It will be a low traffic site so does not need anything more than a small business type package.
Any recomendations please. Who is good , and who to avoid.
thanks

Any particular reason why it has to be UK based? They are not generally the cheapest.0

I use Streamline.net for my site, the bandwidth is pretty good, always seems nice and quick for me.

And I think they're pretty cheap at about £35 a year, have a look and see if they have anything to suit you.

Ps. if you want to look, my site is https://www.blokey.net.This signature was previously violated by my wife, that'll learn me to stay perma logged in.

I use these guys
http://www.vooservers.com/
they were helpful, always quick to respond to queries or support requests and the price isn't bad either.0 -
Just a quick note on streamline, support was awfull when i tried them and the control panel was hardly a control panel. I also beleive that they were resellers and that they did not own their own equipment when i was with them about 2 years ago.0

ah,
I've never had to contact support so I couldn't comment on that. This signature was previously violated by my wife, that'll learn me to stay perma logged in.

I'd recommend hostgator (I host about 300 sites with them). They've won many awards. However they're a US company although they offer 24 hour support.0

This question AGAIN?
Perhaps there should be a sticky, because I answer this once a week at least.

Depending on how many people you expect to realistically see it I would either use Bluehost for a smaller less visited site (http://www.bluehost.com/) or 1and1 (https://www.1and1.co.uk) for a larger site.
Bluehost is in Utah, US and has free livechat 24/7 support and have always helped (with over 10 accounts) and is pretty cheap
1and1 is hosted in Germany and is slightly faster/more reliable (since bluehost does updates at 3am in US which is about midday UK causing slow downs/sites to disappear for a few minutes)
I would recommend Bluehost as it only costs about £35 a year (i think)0
