Whats going on with the Freebie Board?

Newbie here :), So i have just signed up to mse.com...
and I honestly can't work out whether this is either:

A friendly site where we share useful and money saving finds?
OR
A site where we have endless rants and b**ch fights with fellow money savers?

how about we all make a pact? to try and make this forum
as pleasant and as friendly possible?

This site used to be excellent.. Every post in its place and everyone reading the rules and no spam. The only time it got a bit out of hand was Christmas when everybody would jump in and post on the most popular boards with "Where can I find " posts. But since NOV 07 it has been a nightmare with these posts happening constantly as well as spam and abuse and also links to illegal sites and talk of piracy.

A few of the old timers like myself tried to keep the board right but were constantly given abuse and sent nasty PM's by others because we reported posts and the like.

It also became a breeding ground for spam and people doing the old "I agree" post to push up thier post count so not really contributing to the forum at all. Then we have the others that constantly open new threads to ask the same question that others have asked numerous times because they dont bother to search. That is why now I have went from coming on here daily to about once a week. I have also noticed a few others posting less frequent also.

As an example... Your post is in the wrong place and should probably be in the Site Feedback or Vent forum as there is no freebie available in it:D

The last sentance sco0ter is the difference,:A

The OP posted in the wrong place, no shouting or calling the spammers or worse, no abuse, just a gentle piont in the right direction:T

that is what is missing in a lot of replies, a bit of courtesy and politeness:confused:

    see below:confused:

roh - you keep asking where the freebie is - there isn't one this is just a chitchat about how the freebie board has gone down hill in the past months. I used to be a regular visitor but now I only venture on here once a week.

S'pose if you want a freebie then this topic is classed as free advice.:D

I agree with everything that has been said so far :rotfl:

seriously though I often feel aggravated when someone is shouted at for posting something that has already been posted... I appreciate that some people don't search at all -- but, there are a lot of newcomers that post something that they think is 'cool' and then get abuse for doing so.... I read one of PeachPie's messages on another thread and totally agreed with what you said.....

What is especially discouraging for a relative newcomer, is to find the time to post something (after **trying** to check it has not appeared already), only to find that a !!!!!! with nothing better to do jumps in immediately with nothing more constructive to do than point out - rudely - how the post is a duplicate, or in the wrong place.

Ah - **now** I understand this episode. People who LIKE to wind others up. Got it. Trolls.

I'll ignore the provocation and get on with helping and being helped by those people willing to give and receive.

you got it! Ignore wasting_noalibi who is seems intent on doing his/her utmost to ruin this forum and others on this site - ignore the troll and the silly PM's he/she sends (forwarding them to the Mods every time) and we can get on with having fun, helping each other and being helped in return.

(OOer - no doubt he/she will report me again for being rude and abusive - re-arrange the following...pot kettle calling black the...)...

When I first started on the site it was very welcoming, it has got a bit ifffy recently but that comes and goes as people get bored and ignore the rude people.

Re Duplicate posts I found that I was searching and nothingwas coming up, so I posted thn gotabuse for a duplicate. Now numpty that I am the reason was...when I did a search I did not click on forum, I left it on main site which does not always bring up the same things. Once I started clicking on forums, the duplication stopped.!!

Hope this helps someone. Please no abuse for being a numpty at the start. Well maybe a little light beating!! ;)
