I was going to point out..
if you're going into halls a lot of them include insurance with the halls.. manchester use endsleigh and they give me better cover than I'd have taken out with endsleigh myself..
(remember the unis will get discount when doing it for hundreds of people so they often do this as part of accomodation fees) 0 -
hi,
i have tried Endsleigh myself and found them to be quite expensive
i was given a leaflet at college for a company called sis direct, i had a quote from them and they were alot cheaper than endsleigh and the cover they offer is the same! i saved about £60

Have been on the hunt myself for this one found endsleigh extortionate. My own insurer Tesco do not extend cover (but used too) so as my home insurance nedded renewal shopped around ended up at directline.com got a cheaper home insurance and a standard £5k cover for my sons Uni belongings. Excellent!!!!It pays to challenge0

*REALLY* cheap, and also legitimate (i.e. they pay out, featured in Which? magazine):
Saxon Insurance
http://www.saxoninsurance.com
Tel: 0871 230 5000
I got my flat contents insured for £34 per year, £10,000 of possessions covered, only £25 excess, including £500 extra cover for musical instrument! This was loads cheaper than many others, and the cover was actually better! It was only £30 without the extra cover for musical instruments, but i wanted that little bit more....
Also note that my friend who is not a student managed to get insured very easily with Saxon for £30 too!
This was for living *OUT* of halls of residence, living in is cheaper but the below company has a very competitive offer with Saxon so shop around....
£34 a year is *by far* the cheapest I've seen for people not in university accomodation, the nearest being £60 from the one below, which only covered £2500!...0 -
When I was shopping around for student contents insurance I did find that most of the big names weren't interested, however eventually I found E&L (Equine & Lifestock I think it is, bit weird I know). They were cheaper than the default option, i.e. Endsleigh. Plus if you need several years insurance, why not tell them you don't want to renew your policy after the first year, and they'll send you a 15% off voucher to persuade you to change your mind. Well they did for me anyway.0
