it has to be endsleigh, they are the best student contents insurer by a mile i would say
i used them and unfortunately we got burgled about 6 months ago now, they paid out quite promptly, was resolved from start to finish in about a month and they were very reasonable to deal with, didnt have a huge amount stolen but they paid about £600 for what we did lose

  • If you are a student who lives with parents during holiday times, its well worth contacting parents home insurance company first.
Many will automatically include the students address on the parents insurance at no extra cost ......... you just need to register the address. Doesnt matter whether its hall of residence or private, both treated the same.
No harm in asking ...... you could save a fair bit and be better covered .

just a little note if you do follow this tip, make sure u read the small print because most other insurers just dont compare when it comes to student stuff.
The best thing i found about endsleigh was i was still covered even though we didnt actually lock our door by accident. they didnt actually break in, just opened the door and cleared out our living room of electrical stuff, and for some reason my gym membership card ???
but yeh everyone was saying i wasnt gonna be covered but i gave em a ring and was totally honest, we got back about 5am a bit tipsy lets say and cant have locked the door (really crappy lock we had, make sure u get an autolocking yale, ours was a nightmare) but we were still covered which was a great relief.
hmm, i think they should give me a job at this rate lol

not with Ends but their customer service seems very good, quoted for car insurance, a guy from my local uni rang up, chatted for about 20 minutes and tried his best to beat direct line, did the 'ask the manager' thing, i expected to be put on hold, all you heard was him going, 'oi james come here a minute', heard him trying his best an everything.
Since most Ends office's are in uni's it may be worth waiting till you get there, as your likley to meet someone in the bar who works for em and can get you staff discount.....

Check out the website of the uni you sre going to, if you live in halls you may get a certain level of contents insurance included in the price of the rent.
