Suki1964 - I am assuming you did not enjoy the experience??
It should be done first thing on waking, drink a glass of water, swish with a tablespoon of oil for 20 mins, do not swallow just keep working it around your mouth. After 20 mins spit out into toilet and the oil should of turned white and foamy. Rinse your mouth severel times with warm water then brush your teeth. If you have worked the oil properly you shouldn't taste it.
Persevere with this and you will notice numerous health benefits not only whiter teeth.0 -

Lets just say I found it a struggle - and that was just half a teaspoon of almond oil whilst I was in the shower
Im not knocking it - I will give it another go just I think Im going to have to build up really slowly. I was doing ok till I thought about what was in my mouth - then it was a struggle to keep everything down:rotfl:
But Ill not let it beat me (hopefully)0 -
does it have to be done before brekkie - could it be done before dinner instead? i dont have 20 minutes spare in the morning lol!! :rolleyes:0

Daleigha - It has to be done on an EMPTY stomach, before dinner would be fine, if you have not eaten for 4hrs before hand.
Geri1965 - To start with I could not make 20 mins but now no problems, while doing it I make my bed, prepare breakfast, feed my dog, load the washing machine, the time goes really quickly.0 -

I really don't think I can do it - I can't breathe very well through my nose (broke it and had to have surgery) so I don't think I could keep my mouth shut for 20 minutes without feeling unable to breathe.0 -
Well I have just discovered this ancient practise. I have some gum disease and after reading about people's success in minimising their pockets around their teeth decided to give it a go.
Sorry folks it is gross. My first attempt with 1 tsp olive oil lasted 20 minutes, but this morning I tried the 1 tbsp oil and I was gagging. Could only last 15 minutes tops.
The reason I thought I would give it a go, is I am going to see the periodontist in a couple of months and this is a good time to see if oil pulling is really making a difference.

I tried it this morning, really thought it was a joke when I read this post!
A quick search and there's lots of sites recommending it, so thought I'd give it a go especially as I've nothing to lose really. Have to say it was disgusting only managed about 15 mins and think I'll stick to the 15 mins for about 2 weeks...0
