Has anyone tried oil pulling? Try googling it or here's a link http://www.oilpulling.com/. I thought I'd give it a try about a week ago and have noticed that my teeth now appear whiter. Its not hard to do just swish oil through your mouth for about 15 mins morning and night, I used some sesame oil that I already had in the cupboard so it also hasn't cost me anything (until I have to buy another bottle). There are supposed to be all sorts of health benefits although I haven't noticed anything yet apart from lighter coloured teeth.

That's pretty wacky
I don't believe what the link says happens (oil becomes filled with toxins) but it sounds fairly harmless to tryMy TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
how bizzarre! I love this! fantastic for it's comedy value if nothing else. Not buying clothes for a year - it's liberating!0

Yes, I have tried oil pulling, still feel like gagging when pouring it onto the spoon but once swishing it around my mouth it is okay, you also improve with practice , when I first started I could only manage 10 mins but now do the required 20 mins.
My general health and well-being is very good apart from 7/10 days a month when I feel like s**t due to hormones, I read somewhere that oil pulling can help with this.
I know it seems bizzarre but it is harmless and cheap. It is an old indian remedy (I think).
The one thing I have noticed is that after doing op I get a slight headache,
dont know if this is a positive sign or not.0 -

Thanks for your reply - have your teeth become whiter? I'm still oil pulling - have become better at it. I think its better if you start with a small amount of oil if you want to do the 20 mins because the volume increases during that time as you are not swallowing. How long have you been doing it?

Hi Treen
Started couple of months ago, stopped for 2 weeks then restarted and have been doing it everyday religiously, sometimes twice daily if I have time for just over a month.
Yes have noticed my teeth are whiter, skin very clear, increased energy levels and I have lost a few pounds.
Now it could be that because I am putting all this energy into swishing oil around my mouth once or twice a day for 20 mins, I am also being
more health conscious, either way I feel it works for me.
I have used Organic Sunflower Oil mainly, but I bought some Almond Oil which tastes better and I feel is a better detox.
What type of Sesame Oil are you using??0 -
Hi Louise
I've been using cold-pressed organic sesame oil by a company called Essential. I bought from the health food shop for stir-frying a few months ago. Not too nice to start with but ok after a few swishes. Haven't lost weight or anything else - just noticed my teeth are whiterm better than having them whitened, and money saving.

I cant understand why more people are not doing Oil Pulling, definatley whiter teeth using harmless oil instead of abrasive, chemical whiteners.
There are also countless other health benefits as well, once you get over the yukiness it is so easy.
Treen are you doing it every morning first thing on an empty stomach?0 -
Wahhhhhh! Am gagging just at the thought (but then I do just brushing my teeth twice a day), can't even swill mouthwash. Good luck guys, big RESPECT to you.0
