Just trying to establish how it could do that? (I get 2 DVD's each week with around 4-6 xvid files on so this player could appeal to me)
Cheers
The Yamada will give you a directory when you insert the disc and will list the files. You just select the file you want to play using the remote.0 -
About a week ago I saw a Cello Divx player in my local Co-op for about £37.
They had these in sainsburys a few months ago and I got one then - this is an extremely good player for the money with full 5.1 analogue and digital (optical and coaxial) connections. Plays everything I throw at it and lists what is on the DVD's - as described above.
Just found this http://66.102.9.104/search?q=cache:CleFUKGyBWsJ:www.midlandsco-op.com/food/megadeals_nonfood.htm+cello+divx&hl=en though mine is black and looks a bit like this http://www.orientalqisheng.com/product_Show.asp?PhotoID=19 so may not be exactly the same. model no of mine is 81050 -
The Yamada 6700 also plays skvcd, kdvd and kvcd films as well for those who 'obtain' those kind of files. So does the 6600 but the 6100 doesn't like many of them.it's not the council's fault your band is wrong, blame the Valuation Office !!!!! :rolleyes:0

another vote for the yamada 6700, but downside is it doesnt have an optical out, I still bought one and have been very happy, updated the firmware and it fixed an number of buggy issues and has been great since. Although I will be looking to buy one with an optical out next because thats inportant for me and I had to mess a round with my set up to get it all running together.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0

That Cello in the first link looks exactly like the aldi tevion that they were selling a couple of months ago. I was so impressed with this box I got two!0 -
And somerfield are selling from today a cello dvd player for £19.99
No idea how good they are not. And no model number and does not look like either of the pictures above.

When choosing a Divx/Xvid player, and you intend to play "downloaded" files, it is vital that the player supports "packed bitstream" files. Without that support, you will find that at least 50% of the files you play will be jerky.
DVDs should play fine though.
I think some people on this thread do not understand that there is a difference between dvd and divx. Most DVD players will play vcd, mp3, mpeg1, svcd, kvcd, skvcd, mvcd. However, you have to pay extra for the divx feature.
Most standalone Divx player do not support Packed Bitstream. If you intend to watch downloaded TV progs from USA, then most files will be jerky. I think that the Asda one does NOT support PBS, from what I have read elsewhere.
Even the Yamada 6700 does NOT support PBS out of the box. However, if you upgrade it with unofficial firmware, you will find it plays most files flawlessly.0 -

Yes it willI bought one last night from Asda in Colindale and it works perfectly. It gives you a Windows explorer type menu when you load the disc. Great picture quality as well
Thanks to the OP for this one :beer:0 -
The only thing I have had problems with is the video size on some d/loaded files.
The player will play a max size of 720x576 @ 25fps or 720x480 @ 30fps
Some d/l files are 960x528 @23fps and all you get is sound only. Fine for the pc but not the divx player. All Dell'd upseveral times over

My Cello divx doesn’t seem to have problems with file sizes or framerates but when encountering packed bitstreams things get a tad jerky. The answer to this is a free tool called Mpeg4Modifier http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=MPEG4_Modifier – if you run the video file through this first then it strips the bitstream from it – no more jerky movies!!!!
I know somebody with an Aldi tevion divx and although good it wont play some files that my Cello will – could be because of filesizes/framerates.0
