The Dual model dvd860 dvd player is on the shelf at £49 and goes through the till at £39:97.
The player is divx/xvid and 5.1 sound plus it has a card reader on the front panel.
I just tried mine on a number of xvid discs and all displayed menu's and played fine

I hope that everyone else has better luck with this model than we did. We had to replace the first one because we noticed that on normal DVDs it would 'skip' 20 odd minutes or so if we started it on an episode in the middle of a DVD. This didn't happen often, but often enough for it to be annoying and classed as a fault. The second one we had in exchange did exactly the same thing. It's a shame because it played all the formats I needed for my downloads. We got a refund after the second one went wrong. I couldn't be bothered to test out a third one to see if we were just unlucky.
Untill we had problems with both our players, I thought this model was good for the money. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

This one plays formats that other players can't.
Also it has a card reader on the front so you can pop your digital camera memory card in it to easily look at your pictures on the big screen.0 -
You could try the Yamada 6700 if you could live without the card slot.
It plays:
DVD+RW, Audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, VCD, SVCD, MP3-CD, MP3-DVD, PCM, JPEG-CD, JPEG-DVD
Format compatibility: MPEG1, MPEG-2, MPEG4, DivX 3.11, DivX 4.x, DivX 5.x, Xvid, MP3, WMA, PCM, JPEG & AVI
I have one and it's superb. It's about £40 (I paid £33). I got mine from GAMELOADED who I can wholeheartedly recommend.0 -
Anyone any ideas if this player will recognise a DVD-R with say 4-5 xvid files on and give you the option of which one to play?
Just trying to establish how it could do that? (I get 2 DVD's each week with around 4-6 xvid files on so this player could appeal to me)
