Turned Down for MRC DLA But Fit Criteria

im not tying to attack you, just trying to help. lots of people find it difficult to read maps, i know id struggle, especially if i had to drive at the same time!
Doesn't seem that way to me. Having poor vision and not being able to read amap/follow directions for that reason, is different to 'I never learnt how to read a map/don't know how to.'You state that your condition has changed since your award on 14th April 2008.
To open an award you need to show that you have had a deteriation in your conditions for 3 months.
We are now on 27th July 08 and this seems a very quick response to your letter, which shouldn't have really went in untill the 14th July 08. (13days)
No-one ever told me this. I did wait several weeks or so to see if the changes were temporary or permanent.0 -
OP, virtually all the problems you have put in your letter are already acknowledged by your current award of DLA. Low Rate Mobility & Low Rate Care is nearly always given to the visually impaired unless they are actually blind in which case a higher care award is obviously more relevant.
I don't think you fit the middle rate care criteria, sorry. To get a higher rate you need to show you need someone with you to help at regular intervals in the day or to prevent you from harming yourself. If you are falling over a lot I would try to get evidence of this eg injuries. If you aren't injuring yourself, in danger or needing help with body functions each day throughout the day then I don't see what you can do."I always pass on good advice. It is the only thing to do with it. It is never of any use to oneself" -Oscar Wilde0 -

You clearly have not looked far. It took me less than a minute to find that.
Which is no good for personal letters, text messages, etc.To get a higher rate you need to show you need someone with you to help at regular intervals in the day or to prevent you from harming yourself.
I know that and I do need help to prevent me from harming myself. It has actually been 'normal' for the last 12 years for me to go out somewhere and actually injure myself in one way or another.0 -
You can only read in font size 18 but yet you manage to pick out all the small letters and numbers on a minescule keybord and type messages into an internet forum thread
Your spelling is as it should be so that tells me you're not struggling and are more than capable of reading the letters on a computer keyboard no problems:rolleyes:
So why do you need MRC?
You've heard of lights, haven't you? And black on silver is easier to read than black on white. You do realise that it's possible to get keyboards with letters in large print on, don't you? (which mine is)
I think you'll find that I am struggling and that I do need MRC. Not that any of you'd understand.0 -
You managed to read my reply no bother and that is black on white
I think you're having a giraffe0 -
Black on cream (or whatever it is) is easier to read than on white. And I've got a large screen monitor as well.
Unless you're going to help me, get lost. I'm trying to get money that is rightfully mine.0 -

Okay i will do, but many others have said you should only be getting the LRC award as does your letter so by that, dont you think you are fighting a losing battle?
Rightfully yours:rolleyes:0 -
Well, considering that I need more help than what is mentioned for LRC... (I know I do, because I have seen what the needs are for that)0

If you don't think that any of us would understand, why are you posting on here? Have you actually thought that it is not about understanding you, but rather understanding the benefit that you wish to apply for?
People have offered valid advice. You reply by changing the goalposts, contradicting yourself or having a go at someone because they disagree with you.
If you require care for a substantial part of the day, do you intend to have a carer with you at college?
Without telling lies (which I suspect that you will do), you do not qualify for middle rate care.Gone ... or have I?0 -

I have the disability support team. I may not need them all the time. Anyway, my care is more to do with personal stuff and not studying/college.Without telling lies (which I suspect that you will do)
Charmig :rolleyes:0
