Is there any way of saving?

So after digging around the threads it seems that virtually no-one will give an undischarged BR a savings account, which baffles me, but I can't be bothered ranting about it. Has anyone got any idea about a way of setting money aside (until post BR tax affairs are sorted out) that doesn't involve hiding cash under the bed or in a friend's attic? I don't care if it doesn't make a cent in interest, just want to ring-fence a certain amount of money away from the day to day account. Am even considering asking the co-op if they'll give me a second cashminder. If I scratch my head any more my hair will fall out. Any useable ideas - in fact any ideas at all - get a Lidl rum and lime alcopop at the Inn (79p on special offer yesterday!). Ta, BL

Thanks both - don't know very much about credit unions, need to do some research, I guess. Phil, it was your tribulations with Sainsbury's that got me looking in the first place - hope that all worked out. Cheers, BL0

If anyone (unlikely now) has managed to keep a Nationwide account, then they have their e-savings account that runs alongside the basic Flex Account.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Do you have the co-op cashminder account? You could open another one. We've had a joint one since BR in March, I phoned last week and opened another one in just my name, they both come up on my internet banking log in so it's dead easy to transfer money between the two accounts.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I am br and was able to open a savings account with NS&I in the post office. They dont do a credit check but they do ask that you have a bank acc so they can do an identity check.
You need to open it with £100 and you are not allowed a balance under that
Hope that helps

What about a prepaid credit card? You could put something on it whenever you have spare funds and then you will have a nice little nest egg that is easily accesable.Bankruptcy Supporters Club No.1790

Sorry for crashing your thread Billy.
peachyprice - did the co-op agree your additional account there and then? I have a cashminder account and rang about 10 days ago to see about opening another one. It was 'referred' and I haven't heard anything since. There's nothing on my internet banking log-in, just the old account. You can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that

Hi Scarlett
It was referred, but I got the card in the post Wednesday (a nice blue one!) and the pin today. It took about 8 days. I didn't check internet banking until I got the card so I don't know when it went on.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
