I most definitely remember Haunted House. There were the four rooms that you had to pass through, and there wer different traps and obstacles in each. You used to put a metal ball bearing thing down the chimney and it could fall one of four ways, and if you got knocked over by it, you had to start from that room again. I also remember there was a broom that you had to balance in an upright position that could also knock you over!
You have just taken me back 30 years or so!!“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.” Charles M Schulz0 -

Hi
Based on Martins note of cheap board games, went to Poundland today and found ludo and snakes and ladders combined for £1. I bought it thinking it would be poor quality for still not bad for £1, only to find it was laminated and the pieces are decent quality too.
They also had chess, draughts and a few others. Not bad for stocking (big) fillers?

Frustration was/is one of my fav's. I played it as a kid, and we've had it ourselves for about 10 years!
So annoying when you get sent back home when you've nearly got all the way round!:j0 -
Cheaper own brands are great for us as we always lose the pieces over Christmas (generally I'm grateful, having had to play the games over and over and over!), so will try Poundland, and even Somerfield at these prices. Thanks everyone!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000

I remember Escape from Colditz - loved playing it but was an only child so was only rarely able to pursuade my parents to play! My mum had an old game called Careers dating from the fifties, I think, but I absolutely loved it!
Have only recently discovered Poundland; bought a game for my nearly-three year old involving putting cogs together. Thought it wouldn't last but it's done really well and is loved by him, his 8 year old brother and his dad! Most cost efficient toy ever bought! :j0 -

It would be great to find somewhere which is selling Frustration cheap!
ah, it takes me back 25 years!
This is my first post on here - it's an excellent forum! :T0 -
my 5 year old daughter loves 'Connect 4' or '4 in a row' (cheap version from pound shop), only yesterday we played 'kerplunk' which I always wanted as a child, we play dominoes, she also loves Pelmonism (or pairs) where you put cards down and have to remember where the cards are in order to make pairs.
I love board games and my brother and I played a lot when we were children. I can't wait to teach my daughter chess, but she's too much of a cheat at the moment. We played 'Mastermind' a lot as children, where you have to guess a sequence of 4 coloured pegs - we played it for hours. Also, Scrabble was a family favourite - can't wait to play that with my daughter. I think playing cards are forgotten about often. I love playing cards, but can never remember the games and rules, so I invested in a book of card games a couple of years ago. We take it on holiday now. As a teenager with nothing to do after the pubs closed, we also spent hours playing Whist and Trivial Pursuit!
My daughter played Twister the other day for the first time at a kid's club, so that might be a purchase too.0
