Pomegranates

Now the season for pomegranates is upon us once again, do any of you have any weird and wonderful ways of using this fruit, other than sitting there with a pin/cocktail stick and patiently picking out the seeds ... which my DS is currently doing but at least it's keeping him quiet ;):D

I know Nigella has a recipe in one of her books for a warm salad, which involves shredded lamb and mint, but I don't recall seeing many/any recipes otherwise

Thanks for those powie :T ... I love the sound of the second one in particular so will try that when I get some more aubergines :D

Actually ... ... I suppose there's no reason why I can't add them to any sort of couscous salad, so no need to wait until I get aubergines!

  • Pomegranate juice is lovely. I scoop all the seeds into the food processor, mush it all up, then strain out the seeds.

I'm not so good on recipes, but we always included pomegranates and satsumas in the sweets bowl for trick-treaters. Satsumas is from my mum's family - back from when they were very new. Pomegranates is a traditional thing - relating to myth of Persephone.

Cut them in half, hold over a plate and whack hard with the back of a wooden spoon. Most of the seeds fall out, and the rest aren't too bad to pick out.
