  • I think you can freeze cream if you whip it first so double cream and whipping cream are o.k. but not single. However , if i was you I would try it any way, you have nothing to lose!

A similar thread sort of says yes :)

Single cream is not recommended for freezing. It seperates when defrosted and can rarely be reconstituted!

Double cream and whipping cream *can* be frozen if is has a minimum 40% butter fat content.

tryingtobegood - even with all your best intentions, I would suggest you use it up instead of throwing it away and put it down to experience.

Don't feel guilty about it though .. just remember, the weight you are trying to lose didn't jump on you unawares from an extra portion of cream. You can still remain focused on your goals just so long as you don't have it poured over a thick wedge of double chocolate fudge cake

  • I have some double cream left over from having strawberries, and was thinking of cooking up some sort of chicken in a mushroom and cream sauce. As the OH is away on business I won't eat it all, so will it be alright to freeze the cooked dish or will the sauce split when frozen???

    Many thanks.
