Umm about 18 months til I graduate. I'm looking forward to it but I'm feeling incredibly frustrated with the progress atm, was meant to have started last week and be underground by now! RARGH!

The "with machines...trucks the size of small countries" kind of gives a clue :cool: Oh and did I mention that explosives is quite a chunk of our course? :cool: There's nothing quite like seeing thousands of tons of rock disintegrate at high speed and land in a perfectly planned pile with the knowledge that you made it happen.

The paycheques aren't too shabby either and in Oz the standard rosters for engineers are 8 days on, 5 days off... :cool:

It is, but when you are limited to who you meet through work or social life, there doesn't seem to be many options left:o it's a shame really, we all want to meet someone in a romantic or exciting way, but ultimately I suppose it's the meeting someone that's important, not how you do it. I would be just too shy though, I think.

TDQ - had a feeling there would be an element of big machines & things that go bang that enticed you. If it's the on & off thing that excites then how about working on an oil rig... i beleive that's a 2 week roster thing. Although I can see that the north sea vs Oz would probably be struggle :rolleyes:

Sarahb - I was utterly petrified when i did the dating thing & it's a shame because I swapped emails with one guy for weeks & he really was lovely - a perfect gentleman but when it cam to actually meeting him I had a complete self esteem & confidence crisis, told him i couldnt go through with it & left the site. I've come to realise that i must have big issues as i always end up with losers ... hence my decision to remain single for the forseeable future

I think this would be my biggest problem if I ever used a dating site, I could chat online easily but actually meeting them would scare the pants off me!

Lula, just noticed your NSDs, well done:j I suppose you had to lead by example. I was rubbish but in my defence a lot of the spending days were only £1-2 ish and didn't want to cheat by not admitting to spending. Had a feeling you might be good at spotting people who were not declaring truthfully;) Are you running it again next month?

It probably works for some people...dont be put off by my feelings about them, i think it depends what you're looking for. I've had flings & serious relationships but none of them really fulfilled all the requirements I needed to make me want to commit long term when I was faced with making that decision

Exactly, I could chat all day long with the right person, but actually meeting would just be too scary:o
