  • Just been reading this thread..thought I was in the minority, 38,single mum, 2 dogs and lots of debt. Obviously I'm not!!!
Been single for 4yrs and to be honest, my life is good - except for the money I owe!!
Thought I was being a really good DFW, broke all my dishwasher tablets in half, but one of my dogs sneaked a 1/2 tablet out of the box and ate it this afternoon!!!! By 3pm he had bubbles coming out of his bottom! Boy was he ill! Fortunately I've been able to have all the windows and doors open and let some fresh air in - he's feeling a bit sorry for himself now!

Just had to comment on this one! Feel sorry for your dog and hope he's ok but the image of bubbles coming out of his bottom is very funny :D

Just thought id add my support to the thread, im 30 (just) have been single for silly amounts of time now...over three years:-( .... have a good enjoyable job, am 50/50 in a house, but the 50/50 is with my dad.

The house is the family house and basically I went on to a very high mortgage, which if i wasnt in the job that I am, well id hate to think what would happen.

Not an easy situation to be in as it can become very difficult when it comes to cash...my dad is on a payment plan, my head is above water just ...however watch my cash like a hawk normally left with about 200 each month after everything goes out each month.

Mortgage is very high, I want to sell because I HATE paying so much in each month and just rent with dad but the markets going nowhere so its pointless attempting.

I think the most disappointing situation im in at the moment is, not wanting to settle down because of the worry of not being able to afford a relationship. Now i know using the affording a relationship sounds silly, but you have to do something in life together eh..holidays etc etc.. but know at this time i cant afford so am staying single til i can afford.

Awww that does sound like a difficult situation, well done for keeping such a good eye on your outgoings though! I think you need to focus on the positives such as that for now, and in the future the market will improve and you'll be able to go ahead with your plans :)

I know what you mean about not being able to afford a relationship, before my LBM last year I was with someone and that definitely contributed to my debt problems as I wanted to do the things that couples do (probably because the relationship was such a shambles anything seemed like a good idea!). I won't be making that mistake again though :)

Hi m1978, that doesn't sound silly at all, I know exactly what you mean. It is difficult to have a relationship when you know you won't be able to afford to do a lot of things. It won't stop me trying to find someone but I do know how you feel, it does spoil things in a way.
