neighbours cat has vanished

 Bit random this one but it's been worrying me and guess where I come when things are worrying me?!

I've been feeding my neighbours cat for about a year and a half. She's had several litters in that time and was literally skin and bone until recently - so being the soft tart that I am, I've been feeding her whenever she asks!
I know you shouldn't feed other peoples cats, but for a while we didn't know where she lived and we thought she might be a stray cos she was so skinny and ratty looking, and once we'd started doing it it became part of the routine.
Every morning she'd be miaowing at my kitchen window about 7am for her breakfast and then if we were home at all in the daytime she'd hear us inside, or hear our back door open and come running.
Until about 3 weeks ago when she vanished.
At first I thought she'd found some other sucker to feed her because now we know she has a home, and she's looking much healthier I've said no to her a few times.
But she's really disappeared. There's no way we wouldn't have seen her for this long otherwise.
The four other cats who live in her house still hang out in my garden.
Now on the one hand - this is a moneysaving bonus cos I'm back to only feeding my cat now  but my daughter and I are really worried about what's happened to her.
Is is rude to go round and ask given that if something bad has happened they might be upset about it?
Am I just a silly moo, it's none of my concern and I should put it out of my mind.?
What do you think?

If it was me I would just leave things how they are. You fed him/her when they were in need and if they turn up sure you will again.
It really annoys me that we have a cat woman (no offence intended here this woman is seriously nutty she owns no dogs yet carries dog chews and feeds anything in sight!) who keeps feeding our little cat. Especially as a neighbour to her has now come knocking telling us off for our cat apparently pooing in there garden!
But anyway you know your neighbours better, maybe you could casually mention it if you see them rather than make a trip round?0 -
I def don't think you are a silly moo (missed you and your good advice - you don't seem to be "on" when I am).
If you are concerned then ask........
You don't need to go into lods of detail; just usually x pops round but you haven't seen him/her for a while.
And do report back - otherwise you will have the whole of DFW worrying about said cat0 -
Maybe they got her spade (or however you spell it)? If so, with stitches in she might not be outside for a while?
Or perhaps the fact that it was a bit skinny meant there was actually something wrong with it?
I agree, if the cat is hungry and in need of food, it will find it's way to you.Newlywed at the point I joined the forum... now newly separated0 -
Agree with rayday2. Mention it in passing next time you see your neighbour.0

no its not rude at all, i think she would be pleased that you took the time.
not sure that i would tell her you'd been feeding it though. Just say that she comes and goes with the other cats and you havent seen her for a while.
Brace yourself thought, you've obviously become fond of her and she could well have died. But either way you'll stop worrying. I think you must be a really nice person to not mind all these cats roaming in your garden.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Weve got 4 cats who on occasion pop into the neighbours and get fed we dont mind. One of them often goes off on jaunts for several weeks the longest time being about 6 weeks. We live in a rural area and theres lots of rabbits and mice for them to go hunting for so we normally just wait it out and they eventually come home. No harm in asking after the cat if you get on well with the neighbour we wouldnt mind if it was our cat. One of ours is currently awol for 2 days now!!Official DFW nerd 206 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Jacks, I'd mention in the passing too even say your daughter had become quite fond of the cat visiting and was worried. Nothing silly about being worried about the cat, I'm an animal lover too
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
I'd mention it too - in fact I do, constantly - I haven't seen XXX for a few days, I thought you were on holiday cos your cat was up and down on my driveway & garden the whole day. I always talk to my neighbours about their cats.... um, I'm more likely to recognise a cat than a neighbour tho, which causes problems of its own!2023: the year I get to buy a car0
