This is going to sound really daft, but how easy are breadmakers to use? Do you just bung all the ingredients in and let it do its thing, or do you still have to do lots of kneading etc? I've made bread manually but it is always really heavy and you could build houses with it.

Newbird, I'm really glad you started this thread, its got me thinking I may need one too!

Just bung it all in and the bread machine will do the rest, basically alleycat.

Ok all, thx...I'm off to bed now to try to get up early for my local car boot tomorrow - but you know the lore of Boot Sales - I always say you can get ANYTHING you want from a boot sale - but...just not always WHEN you want it!

Al ... if you eat it too warm ... it won't "settle" properly ... if you've still got it, give it another go and try a different recipe. The "hole" from the blade shouldn't be too big
(I never slice mine the "normal" way ie: side to side :o ... I slice top to bottom so the "hole" is the last bit I reach ... by which time, it's ready to be bread n butter pudding :rotfl: )
