Are breadmakers really money saving??

The other potential moneysaving area is not having to nip to the shop for a loaf of bread midweek and spending more than you'd planned on other items that just happen to "catch your eye""An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Ok guys, well, you're not putting me off!
They seem to vary a bit, I would want one with a timer for use on eco 7...anyone recommend a best buy with a delay timer then?
what about the wattage rating, if they are lower powered, do they need to be on longer?? seen some variations from 500 - 800watts...Bless Martin's Little Cotton Socks. I thank him for giving us MSE. Look what its grown into!

Well, we have a variety of BM's amongst us but there are a couple which invariably seem to come out on top every time during discussions - Panasonic and Morphy Richards - as well as an odd one which I think only Ticklemouse owns (sorry can't remember the make hun
) as the quality of bread you get is also dependant on the machine you use, so it's basically down to your budget and what you want to spend on one.

Newbird ... at this time of year ... I would either put it down on my Christmas list .. or better yet .. wait for the Jan sales!
I bought a dirt cheapo one in the last Jan sales (less than £20 .. if my memory serves it was £14.99 - with timer etc.)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PMS Pot: £57.53 Pigsback Pot: £23.00

Newbird, the best tip I got from here, was to follow explicitly the instructions/recipies that will come with your breadmaker, as machines differ considerably - each instruction booklet is desgined specifically for its machine. Once you know what you are doing, then you can play (the bit I'm waiting for!)
And I think that most come with a timer from the searches I did (Argos, amazon and Tesco)0 -
I have borrowed my Mum's a few time so it easy for me as she just lives up the road, I was wondering though if I should buy my own, or would it just end up sitting in the cupboard??0

Kicking myself, as there was a Panasonic on a boot sale that I half wondered about for £15...Bless Martin's Little Cotton Socks. I thank him for giving us MSE. Look what its grown into!

I have the Russell Hobbs Breadman Ultimate - I think margaret does too. I also have a Cookworks el cheapo one, but I'm car booting that one next week. The difference in the quality of bread that my Ulimate makes vs the cheap one is amazing. I'd stopped using the cheap one within weeks whereas the new one has a place on my worktop and gets used regularly (must put a fruity loaf on tonight
) So, the expensive one is better VFM. I also got it in a sale for £66ish
