This is a common symptom of power supply failure in Thomson boxes. Discussed here:

Yeah, but unfortunately I don't want to threaten to cancel, because then, if they didn't do that, i would be left with no subscription, and still in the situation of having a non working box. £65 for a replacement HD box, (and dish & LNB) i think was quite a good deal!

You can always change your mind about the cancellation if the ploy does not work. Its not as if Sky will never let you subscribe again.0
