  • BT phoned up my mum and asked who she was with, to which she replied Tiscali... and they were going to offer her lifetime free calls as well as a good deal on broadband, which is good considering this is the house they will retire in. She's still considering it with all the bad press Tiscali are getting.
  • Yes, as Tiscali customer i got one of these letters, i took a dislike to it. I have been with Tiscali for over 4 years and find them very good especially the TV side, as to the cost i have just looked at the cost, wow what a difference, i could afford it

Nice one to point out the defamation article, it is about time Tiscali stud up for themselfs

I'd love to know where they got the customer details from - they hold it all on their databases obviously but they aren't supposed to use it - data protection... betting they been naughty people...

Unless a Tiscali customer specifically asks them in writing not to, they can pass on (sell) your details details to 3rd parties. They also say by just using Tiscali's services you give express consent for this to happen with your data.
Probably the info is available at a price from some marketing company.
Tiscali only seem to have a problem with the content of BT's letter, not how they aquired the details.

The BT letter simply states the facts:

Why do so many companies tell you a short-term introductory price and omit the rest of the details?!

It may be £4.95/month for three months, but if they don't want to tell me the true cost, I'll assume it's because it's embarrasingly high and will just bin the letter!

Going by that letter I cannot see what BT have said that's defamatory?

They've referred to them in two instances, one in the link to the article from the register. Second on how to obtain a MAC from Tiscali.

Whenever BT send me a marketing letter, they always have the same typo in my address (initial repeated as if it was the initial of a middle name) but not in the address on my BT landline bills.

I'm a Tiscali broadband customer and I also got this letter, addressed to the typo address and not to the correct address Tiscali and BT landline hold for me.
