Well quite. But if the buyer doesn't pay with a credit card, covering yourself against credit card chargebacks is rather a moot point.

Seeing as paypal don't reveal payment sources, I choose to err on the side of caution :)

I guess that's a prudent course of action.

This is obviously a novice ebayer, why should they be bothered about confirming their address and all the other hoops paypal try to put you through? They have paid and expect their goods. Ebay needs new buyers, 99% of them are genuine and just need a bit of help so just send the goods out. Send them by standard parcels with £100 insurance if you are worried it's only a couple of quid extra.

After saying they would collect. If they'd stuck to their original plan instead of farting about, there'd be no problem.

1st they message me before they bid saying when (not if) they win that they will collect so no need to post. I reply saying fine but cash on collection would be preferred as they had no feedback, they say ok I then check their location channel islands I am in birmingham I message them again asking them how they intend to collect they say they are in birmingham and give me the area. Fair enough, then there is a bidding war between 2 people pushing my items to a ridiculous price for what they are.

I get the item sold email telling me yes their address is brimingham in the channel islands and their name (This is not their name just an example) Fred smith I mail them with my number asking when they would like to collect and they say the next day yes I say thats fine and ask what time No reply next day comes no collection they text asking if they could collect the following day again I am accomodating and say yes what time and again no reply, no show again, I text late that night asking when could collect No reply so I email again no reply on sat I get text saying could they collect today I say not convenient but they could collect sunday or in the week No REPLY!! Monday I get text can I collect tomorrow I text back let me know a time and I will make sure I am here, no reply, tuesday comes no messages and no show that evening paypal payment unconfirmed address to a different address in birmingham than the on on the item sold email and a new name John smith ok same surname but different first name

Am I not right to be a little bit wary.

Yes it alls sounds a bit mixed up and you have every right to be cautious, if this was a phone or laptop then I would say yes stick to your guns and get the address confirmed but as this is toys I think it is more of a new ebayer problem than a scam. I really don't understand why buyers are so poor with their communication, it is possibly as you thought they have paid too much and are now regretting it.
