How do you get out of a 3 contract?

Hello everyone, my friend has a problem. She is on a 3 contract with 7 months still to go on it. She has had nothing but problems with reception for calls and sending and recieving text. When she phones to complain she is fobbed off with excuses.
Is there anyway she can get out of her contract, without paying a fortune, as the phone doesn't do what it is supposed to do?

Not really - all networks hold you to the contract length. The only way out is to give 30 days notice but you still have to pay for the extra remainder of the contract (as that is what will be on your final bill).
I once had an LG phone (nothing against LG) but I did not like the phone (one of the early flippers back in 2004) - I got so fed up with with 3 months to go, I simply broke the phone myself in my hand - I just hated it so much. I decided then to cancel contract, paid up the remainder of the contract and that was it - the deal was on about £16 a month, so not a major killer.
Reception wise I never had trouble with 3 at least in the areas I have used it - it might be the phone itself which is stuffed - you could ask for a new phone maybe they could do something out of good will - you would pay for the phone, move to a lower tarrif etc. or something.
Oh and keep phoning 3 and moaning, the more you moan the more likely they will yield I think. Say you want to speak to customer service manager or something.0 -

If she's having problems with reception then see if she can manually select the 2g network instead of the 3g one. This service is provided by Orange, so she should have no problems with it. Also, if she spends long enough on the 2g network, 3 might actually cancel the contract themselves (with no early termination charge?) because it will cost them too much in payments to Orange.0 -

Thats really good advice I shall tell her that, plus I've just told her about this site so she might be on herself soon x0 -
It may be worth checking out some of the dealers that do instant cash back (phone4u, jag etc) if you explain you want to buy out a Three contract they can do a mid range deal with a basic handset and possibly enough cash to buy out of the old contract, then have your Three phone unlocked and use it with your new sim.«◊» PRO UNLOCKER «◊»0
