Sorry Sar, not had chance to read this whole thread I'm trying to pack for our camping holiday on Saturday.
I just popped in to catch up for 10 minutes and saw something about you leaving.
I for one think you are an inspiration to us all and wish you all the best and hope you pop back and at least keep en eye on us, look what they've done to your thread for goodness sake(the choc bars have made me chuckle).
You and your family take care and enjoy your rest away from here OK.

Hi IA....I havent read all this thread as only jumped on whilst at work. I would like to encourage you not to leave.... I have to admit to looking at some of your postings and being one of those who puts you on a pedastal (sorry cant spell this morning) but actually what I appreciate more than anything is that you are human....
I too ended up increasing my debt over the last year and ducked out of mse and all that achieved was isolation, lack of direction and it meant that i didnt feel I could come back on hear and admit to it (also read deal with it). However, I think that as a community we need to change this atmosphere. This is a board for people who want to get out of debt and the ways we go about it. To do this effectively we need to realise that we are all human. Both our own stupidity as well as circumstances lead to people upping their debt and we should recognise and support people through this. You will get some people who follow your journey and are disappointed if you 'fail' which feels really bad as sometimes its just the echo of our own disappointment but I dont think we should allow these people to affect what we do unless we can find someway to turn it round.
IA, I feel you have a gift in being able to encourage others with your stories, your know how and your journey and it would be a real shame if you felt you had to duck out and come back as someone else at a later date, especially leaving the more judgemental people as the loudest voices. I know the feeling that you want to disappear for a while to deal with your own stuff and that may or may not be the right thing to do...but please come back....as you.DFW 228 LONG H 68

I agree that IA's story with it's ups and downs is an inspiration and a relief to others when they see she is the same as the rest of us... i.e. fallible.
The issue and the reason she feels miffed is because she feels she is slagged off for doing anything wrong....
Well no, i kinda think that if i was good friends with someone in "real life" and i didn't think their choices were good ones, then i would say something... i wouldn't expect to be called a troll for expressing a different opinion in real life, so why on here? Not saying i've ever been called a troll, but y'know what i mean!
What value is there in saying, yeah you've got debt you're working bloody hard to pay it off, you're struggling week to week financially but yeah why don't you buy yourself a new console, or a tattoo or whatever.... a friend would say "well are you sure this is a good idea now." "Can you afford it really?"
I think if you give over everything about yourself on here, good and bad, then people assume that you want them to comment on it all, so they do.
I know some people are being argumentative for the sake of it but it isn't everyone who expresses an opinion who is doing it outta badness... usually the trolls are easy to spot (and are illiterate!)
Sorry if i'm repeating myself, but if the thread is still on P1, then i thought it would be good to get it back on topic. ( Snaggles!!)
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

I agree with this comment. I was one of the people who commented in the other thread a week or so back, and I thought IA had asked for feedback (she'd said something along the lines of should I do this or that, what do you think guys?). I would never have said anything if I hadn't thought that she was asking for people's opinions, and I was taken aback to find that IA was so upset.
I totally agree that it is difficult and uncomfortable to have people commenting on your finances, and maybe feeling that they are judging you - which is why I have never posted anything personal about myself! But part of the way this board works is that people post their SOAs and diaries, and ask for feedback and support, so I think that's naturally what people did on IA's thread, so it isn't fair to accuse everyone of picking on her. Equally, obviously IA is a very popular and well known member of the board, and people know more about what she's been doing over the last few years, so she had more people reading and commenting on the thread than a newbie would have done, which probably made it feel worse for her.
IA - I'm sorry to hear that things aren't going well for you. I hope you are feeling a bit better by now.0
