My computor has been hacked!

The weekend we bought a new computor and my son has had my older one. Whilst deleting myself as a user on it (but still keeping hubby as an administrator) we noticed that someone has added him/herself as an administrator on it which probably accounts for the fraud issue i had with my credit card recently. The name of the 'administrator' was asp.net. Despite the internet passwords and stuff being wirelessly encrypted and running CCleaner, Advanced Window Care on a daily basis i am now wondering what else i can do to make sure this never happens again. Hubby also found something similar on our sons laptop which he also had to deal with.

Do you have a firewall?
CCleaner and Advanced Window Care are not firewalls and cannot stop hackers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

If you installed the .Net framework, which would have come down through Windows Update, then it does create it's own account asp.net on the machine for development etc0

I think the firewall we used was the one built into Windows if that makes sense. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

As be_alright says, it's a consequence of installing .Net Framwork 1.0/1.1. (Later frameworks don't have that issue). I think you can delete that account but it's perfectly normal for it to be there in the first place if the above framwork is installed."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Its the .net framework as already mentioned and I'll add you should get yourself a better firewall if all you're using is windows inbuilt one, I use PC Tools Firewall Plus very user friendly and better than the free zonealarm.0

spyboat search and destroy (free) is also useful utility to have for those malicious attacks!0

As everyone else as said it's the net install.
Nothing to worry about, just delete it.0
