    Aw, cheers guys!

RE: the comment about my parents being proud .. it's totally the oppisite really! :( but ahh well! Thanks guys again! :)

Believe me, my parents hated the idea of me going back to uni etc. But they really are proud now. It may take till the end of your studies for them to realise it, but your doing whats right for you and that is all that will ever matter! Make yourself happy first, and the parents will follow suit in the end!

It sounds like you already know what you want to do!

I left school at 16, got a job, worked for ten years. Hated it, but wasn't qualified to do anything else. I went to night school, got my A-levels, then quit my job to go to uni full time. It was scary but it was the best decision I ever made. I've just started a PhD and it's wonderful to spend my time doing something I love!

I didn't mind the drop in income for my undergrad degree, and as a PhD student my income is comparable to a low-end graduate job anyways. It was, to me, a lot more important to be happy in what I was doing.

You sound like you've thought this through and you can afford it. Go for it!
  • Thanks again guys :) makes me feel good when i read the replies here! It's like I have surport haha! cheers!! :)

Stick with it....I definately think you are doing the right thing,

Me and my husband are both studying for degrees now, I am 28 he is 35, we have all the responsibilities of a house, 2 children (3rd on it's way), pets etc... believe me we wish we had realised how much harder it would be now than say 10-15yrs ago.

My mantra is - you only regret what you don't do!!

Good Luck and keep us updated...

Yeah, That's what I have been thinking, alot of people have been saying I have left it too late already! But I am just thinking to myself if I didn't do it now I'd only want to do it when I am 25 - 30 and things will be alot more complicated then!
  • You are of an age where you do not have the responsibilities of a mortgage and kids. If you don't do it now, you may not have the opportunity in later life as you will have other financial committment. By obtaining additional qualifications, you will put yourself into a different salary bracket and hence are investing for your future financial security. Good luck.

    You are brilliant! :A
You're doing everything right, you've planned what you want to do, and how you're going to pay for it.
There'll be times when studying is hard and you'll think there's no end, but I doubt you'll ever wish yourself back where you were!
All the best and give yourself a good pat on the back! Xx

Always follow your heart, if you don't, you'll never be happy.
