Good morning, No p60's over the years, she was told they were kept on file for her until she needed them, we were in contact with hmrc day in day out to investigate this and even offered to drive to reading to have a work with the previous employer, but were told under no circumstances were we to go near her place of work as there was an investigation going on, and the obvious (we would of gone ballistic at her and taken 5 years worth of tax and NI from her yard) Don't get me wrong I had to give up a £36000 job to care for my partner, I feel I have paid my dues over the years and thought I would get something back.
Sorry, I'm still confused.
In your last post you said that you'd been now told that the contributions had been paid, so surely the above is no longer relevant? Have you heard that you'll now receive some of your benefits backdated and, if so, how big a dent will this make in your debts? 0 -
Nothing at all was claimed through out 2007,like I said I also applied for benefits but was told that I gave up work willingly, I cant believe that 2 people that have worked all there life and have a combined in come of £52000 a year for over 6 years cant get help, we were truly robbed, the druggy's that live in town get a free house, free money every week, free clean syringes free drugs and counseling....... who pays for all that, this question was asked all the time, to our local MP and to the job centre, council, but they were never aloud to comment
So - pay in to the system - you get nothing what so ever, no help nothing
Rob, steal, do drugs - get everything - I was clearly on the wrong track in life.ilikewatch wrote: »Hi,
Out of interest, did you claim any other benefit, such as income support etc. during this time?0 -
we applied 3 times, were getting all the old letters out this morning to take to a solicitor, they say if your not claiming any benefits what are you living on, you must have an income somewhere. every benefit was applied for, incap in IS but were turned down for all, I'll post some of the letters up later for you guys, I was not entitled to any benefits as I gave up work willingly, housing and council tax were not going to pay as we were not receiving any benefits what so ever, so they turned a blind eye to us, [/quote]
CTB and HB should be unaffected by the fact that you have no other benefits coming in. Did you actually apply for these benefits?
Similarly, if you applied for IB, you should also have applied for Income Support (assuming neither of you were working) which would have been payable in your partners name. It sounds like you applied for Job Seekers Allowance and were turned down for leaving work voluntarily, but this only applies for the first 26 weeks, so if you had carried on signing on you'd be getting paid by now. Also you probably should have been advised about Income Support at this point?

That's correct, they have been paid, how? who knows, it went through to the "corporate team" who ever they are, and it has taken them 19 months since the investigation started as to why no tax or NI had been paid
No mention of back dating anything what so ever, they don't see any claims for benefits on there system, there just tax and NI at hmrc, so we have to dig it all up with jobcentre plusOldernotwiser wrote: »Sorry, I'm still confused.

I'm assuming that IS wasn't payable at the time because it is means tested and you were earning £36k a year therefore in a position to financially support your wife. Did you not make a fresh claim for IS for the both of you after you left work?
Has your wife ever attemtped to claim DLA?
This is NOT means tested so would have been payable regardless of you working and if she qualified for middle or high rate care then you would have been able to claim Carer's Allowance when you finished work.
There's a lot that doesn't add up here, including what on earth have you been living on if you've had no income for 19mths. I'm sure the DWP must be wondering that too

she tried to claim DLA, and was asked to come in for a medical, to asses how badly she was effected by her illness, and was deemed not that ill when going in. go figure.
your welcome to our bankstatments for last year, we had a total of £1600 through out last year, we were living on handouts from the local homeless shelter and that was about it... a lot of questions were asked as to what we were living on, but still nothing came of it... secretly I have a big stash of cash that I was hiding~Chameleon~ wrote: »I'm assuming that IS wasn't payable at the time because it is means tested and you were earning £36k a year therefore in a position to financially support your wife. What reasons did they give for not awarding DLA?0

I couldn't believe it when I read this. You should be getting tax credits and child benefit. The tax credits will be backdated from the date the baby was born which should help you out a bit. If you go on the tax credit website you can fill in your details and it tells you how much you could claim. There's also a site called entitledto.com which tells you all the benefits you should get including housing and council tax benefit. Your partner should also receive income support. Have you got doctors notes? You've probably done this but go into your local jobcentre with all the proof. Also, check on the tax credits and entitled to website to see what you should be getting. Then go into your council offices with proof of benefits etc to claim housing and council tax benefit. You should receive all this as your partner obviously needs you at home to help her and the baby. There's so many couples out there who are both capable of working and they choose not to. They manage to get everything handed to them. I really don't see how they can say you're not entitled to anything. As for never paying NI and tax, even if this was true i'm sure it doesn't make a difference as alot of people on benefits have never worked so therefore have never paid anything. Also everywhere you go etc jobcentre, council etc you will be told different things by different people you speak to, so don't listen, for example a lady in my council told me she didn't think I'd get any housing benefit when I went back to work last year so I left it. I looked at the entitled to website and it said based on the tax credits i receive I should be paying £20 less so if i hadn't listened to her I would have been £20 better off every week for the last year which would have helped me out. I hope this helps. Good luck0

Titch I'll dig the letters out today and scan them on so you can read them, after my partner got pregnant and was not receiving treatment they said it was different ball game and that she had to claim maternity allowance, but after we were told on two separate occasions we were able to she fell short by 6 weeks due to being signed off through illness. What reasons did they give for not awarding DLA?0
