Natwest is same as Royal bank of Scotland RBS so if you don't have debts with them you can also look to open inany of the 2.
The most recomended banks as far as I have seen in other threads are Nationwide and Co-operative because they will offer you a Basic Accoun tif you have bad credit history...but again you most not have any debt with them.

Hi thanks all for the advice.

Was told by Payplan only 2 banks I am 'safe' with were HSBC or Natwest. Went into both today, HSBC refused to open me an account, said unless I already had an account with them they couldnt help  . I used to have an account with them which as far as I knew was still open (though probably less than £5 in there as been doormant for years) so they checked on the system and she said it had been closed ages ago so no they wouldnt help! Didnt like the attitude anyway :p

Natwest on the other hand were quite helpful and I have an appointment tomorrow!

    Many thanks

    :)
  • Hi

I received my 'paperwork' today from Payplan but none of it adds up! Has anyone else had this trouble? Dont know what to do now.

First they advised on the phonecall they cant help as its not in their interest because I obviously have no surpless money after paying the prority bills.

I then receive this paperwork that says I have more available than we figured out on the phone, they have missed out some monthly payments I make to Sky etc ,but put the wrong figures in the wrong boxes so it shows we pay £623.58 per month for pet insurance and have a monthly expenditure of £20.12 (when we actually have an expenditure of £623.58) so nothing adds up.

They show I have an income of £325 per month and Incapacity Benefit of £343.98 and Tax Credits of £668.98! I am not employed, so have no income, and the IB should be £300 and the TC (from my husband) around £320 a month!

Finally their advice on the phone and in their own letter to me suggests I try and make a token payment of £1 to each of my creditors, yet a couple the letters they have enclosed for me to send off to these creditors with my first offering of £1 say I am offering half my current monthly amount each month (eg £27, £11, £7.30p, £1.13p etc). I am very surprised and quite confused now!

I am now getting very confused, Payplan say they cant help, CCCS say they cant help and I dont have the confidence to do it by myself. :o

 though it would be all sorted this week.

    What do I do now?

    Many thanks.
  • Hi there, im really new to all of this but have been lurking for a while which is what gave me the push to arrange a DMP, I went with payplan and found them to be very helpfull and friendly and didn't judge me just helped. I had my paperwork the next day after initial two telephone conversations and will hopefully agree with my creditors to accept £160.00 per month.... so payplan did it for me :j

  • Hi

Thanks for that, glad you find Payplan helpful, maybe I just had a blip in the system but wondered if I should let Payplan know or simply re-write the info correctly? Saying that it still wouldnt be a correct SOA as they have mised out Sky and some other bits I think.

    Many thanks

    Hi GH

How about CAB? They may be able to help sort letters to your creditors and get you started. You might find in a couple of months that you could go it alone. I didn't feel confident at first which is why I went to CCCS and I'm still with them but with what I know now, I could go it alone if I needed to. Just don't have the time to do it at the moment.

I think you should get back in contact with Payplan and find out what's going on.

    Good luck.
