  • :embarasse Payplan cant really help, no offer of an IVA (phew!) can't even help with a DMP!

They are sending details about making token gesture payments to all my creditors and advised me to open up new bank account elsewhere with a place that isnt connected in any way with any of my debts (loans and credit cards) as they (the people I am in debt with) will be able to take money without my consent if they see even 1p surpless.

Will try CCCS tomorrow and CAB in week. Someone must be able to help me a bit more?

    So fed up now

Thanks for all the replies and help and support and encouragement.

Sorry to hear that Payplan can't help. CCCS have a slightly different criteria for acceptance I think. Did Payplan say why they couldn't help? Try the online CCCS debt remedy and see what that comes up with.

Definitely try CAB as well. I think they will do the necessary to get you started and leave it up to you from there but provide you will free support along the way.

    Good luck.

  • Hi thanks for the advice I have already (yesterday) completed the CCCS online form but can't call them at weekend so first thing on my 'to do' list tomorrow. I will also visit CAB but our local ones arnt that helpful I found in past (have been there on various topics).

Payplan said they couldnt help me as it wasnt in their 'ethics' to because I wouldnt have enough to live on after a DMP that they considered reasonable. Therefore they couldnt help with a DMP. Basically I think they were saying I got more going out than coming in even when I leave out the creditors debts!

    Thanks again.

    :)

    Hope this makes sense?

Yep, that makes sense. Is there anyway you can get some extra income? Not sure on your circumstances so apologies if that question is inappropriate.

What did the CCCS online say?

I find my local CAB can sometimes be unhelpful. I live in a small town and my local CAB is a bit stretched sometimes and I don't think they'd ever had anybody with the query I had so were a bit baffled. However, I did perserve and did eventually get a helpful person. I guess it depends on your query and who you speak to. I also visited a CAB in my nearest large town and they were very helpful and more knowledgeable.

Have you rung National Debtline? They offer free advice and maybe able to suggest something.

  • Hi thanks again

My 2 CAB's are in larger towns but I will still try.

CCCS form needs me to call CCCS advisor before it will give me a way foward. Need to discuss things or advise I suspect.

Am trying to change circumstances, reduce spending etc but any more advice always welcome.

    Thanks

(PS I have PM'd you my circumstances as I dont want to broadcast them again, I am too emotional after the last time I posted my SOA last week!)

I spoke to National Debtline and Payplan. I briefly explained my situation to them and both told me that as I didn't have any surplus money, I couldn't opt for the DMP that I originally wanted information on. They both suggested sending my creditors token monthly payments of £1.

I contacted CCCS and they were really busy, but arranged a phone interview about a week and a half later, even contacting me by text to confirm it.

When they called me, they were on the phone for a good hour and went through a detailed income/expenditure form. The lady I spoke to readjusted my budget and after looking through everything, she gave me 2 options...

    1) Leaving my budget as is [new version] and contacting creditors with the £1.00 per month token payment.

    2) Finding £35 from my budget and doing a DMP through CCCS, so that they pay all of my creditors £5.00 each a month.

I have decided to do things myself first. I am going to write with the monthly offer of £1.00. If that is not accepted, then I will offer £5.00 per month, then if they don't accept that they can all !!!!!! off, and I will try and get the CCCS to do a DMP, with the £5.00 or less offer a month.... We shall see what happens!

I think that you should speak to both and see what happens. That way you can see who will work best for you.

  • Hi, similar to many other people posting on the thread, I have no experience of PayPlan but have only good things to say about CCCS. It is a tremendous relief to speak to someone who isn't shocked or judgmental, and they are super understanding and positive. And also very importantly, they do what they say they are going to do.

Whatever happens over the next few weeks, there will be a solution. It's only a matter of deciding which one is best for you and that you can live with longer term. Good luck.

This is true, this is the first thing you should do, check payplan website for a list of banks.

If you have no surplus after your outgoings then CCCS will probably not help you neither and advice on token payments too, before your appointment, go through your outgoings and try to not include expenses as hairdresser, etc. Also try looking now what can you get rid of like Special TV package form Sky, or any others "luxuries" (if you know what I mean) to help you reduce expenditures.

Ask the advisor to let you know the minimun/maximun you can spend on food and other expenses, the idea is to have something left to pay as a DMP. I started paying £5 to each creditors x 12 = £60 per month, but that was long ago and I understand now they are more strict, as you can understand you don't want to offer creditors and fail payments as this will cause other serious problems and difficulties to go back to DMP....actually if you fail 2-3 payments the DMP is canceled.
There are good suggestions in this forum on how to save money on mobile phones, calls, energy savings, etc....check them out to start saving and reduce outgoings.
Also check what benefits you may be entitled to ensure you are getting as much as you are supposed to get based on your circunstances.

It is better to have the picture clear on this before having your interview with CCCS.

    Wish Good luck
  • Hi

Just wanted to update you as I have spoken to CCCS this morning.

They can't help me either! They say I have £15 more each month going out than I have coming in, thats just with my priority 'household' debts alone before looking at what I owe to whome.

I have cut back my spending as best I can. I am now at a dead end as to where to turn, I think even if I do now try CAB they're going to see and say the same thing considering Payplan and CCCS have done so already.

I obviously have to make an extra £15 plus a month. I have 9 creditors so am estimating I will have to find at least an extra £115 a month??

I am not able to change my Broadband, Telephone packages as my contracts dont expire until end of year, I can obviously leave early with both but this means I have to pay a penalty, more money I simply don't have right now! If I could I would stick them all in 1 bundle with the Sky package. That would save me I am sure, how much I am not sure.

 I am getting concerned as things may change for the worse soon as we have yet to 'renew' the Working Tax Credit for my husband and my Incapacity Benefit eveiw is coming round in November so income can scarily go down.

I am looking for other sources of income including work from home jobs and suchlike.

I don't know where to turn or what to do or tey next
