Hi all - am a newbie and have just started our DMP with Payplan. Have various default notices sent, but my main concern is that the creditors are all asking for more money than we have offered and they are contacting me and my husband direct instead of going via Payplan. I'm getting very stressed - I suffer with M.E./CFS - and this is just pulling me down further.

I don't know what to do - I have tried to contact Payplan, but so far no answers have been forthcoming. One of our creditors actually wants more per month than we pay to all our creditors! Money is exceptionally tight - with 2 small children - I'm finding it very tough. Any advice gratefully received. Thank you.

Loo it would be better if you start your own thread then more of the experts will see your query. It is going to get lost on this thread. Just click on the New Thread button at the top left hand side of the front page of the DFW forum.

If you cannot pay your debts and you have no surplus income, have you thought about bankruptcy?

Loo44 - hello and welcome! Its usually best to start your own thread as you could get lost in the posts here! Anyway, ignore them. They cannot have more than you have got. Simply keep on at Payplan and forward correspondence to your case worker. If you want to reply to the creditors, simply reply with your payplan details and ask for all correspondence to go to them. Be strong and don't give in by paying someone more - they will "smell the blood" so to speak and view you as an easy touch.

  • Hi SKylight

I dont know what Bankruptsy involves exactly. I am also wary of going into it as my husband is Self Employed (long story sure youve read it before?) and I dont want to affect him (or his business).

I will take a look into it anyway thanks.

    :o
  • Hi

I looked into bankruptsy (thanks again) but it looks like its not an option as it will affect my husbands business.

Looked at the National Debtline website and did the calculations tool but even that one said I had more going out than coming in! It suggested a shopping budget of up to around £300 fo a couple with no children. Will have to find the Frugal cooks club threads quick as our stocks are running low so no better time than to start a new list today!

I dont seem to be getting far today :o
    Thanks

Do you have a spreadsheet of where you stand etc if you want me to have a look through you can pm it me, it is very baffling how you are currently just managing to pay things and yet all these things are saying you have not enough to live on.

hey! Don't forget to open a new account not associated with your creditors or they are allowed to take your money if you stop paying or make tokens/reduced payments.
  • Thanks Papito (and everybody).

Am looking into doing that this week as soon as hubby got a few hours free.

Is it possible though to have an online account instead? I find it difficult to get into town when hubby busy and would be ideal if I could control all my finances from pc at home.

We have been told only 2 banks left I can use (who not linked with any loans or credit cards I have) is either HSBC or Natwest. Interested in your suggestions and feedback on these 2, and online banking idea.

    Thanks

Both do online but you will probably have to do a basic account in branch or if you ring to explain maybe they will post forms to you.
