Jo - we have prepaid meters here just because they are what was here when we moved in and as we where only staying a yr, didn't seem point getting them removed. Even less so now as only 8 months to go lol. I do find we use less energy than we did before purely because we are more concious of our usage. Also its nice to go on the wee walk to the shop to top up lol. Adds to the calorie burning haha.
kmac - not to worryIt was a treat out, its not like you have it every day.
I made apple crumble and pizza yesterday -- was all very yummy for my dinner lol just not very healthy! Got 7 apples left too that i need to stew and freeze to use for future crumbles. Cooking apples where BOGOF in mr Ts so thought i might as well get them while they are cheapish and make some wee treats lol im so easily led!0 -
I'm cant believe my luck. On top of yesterdays good news (clearing my gas and electricity debts. I have received in the post this morning a Interview for a part time job, will my local social services department. Is my luck changing or am I just feeling more confidant about my situation. Thank you to you all. You are all such a Fabulous bunch of friends. I feel so close to you all. I hope our girlie weekend comes off. As I would really like to meet you all. Even if it was only the once :A, or could we do a yearly reunion.
If at all possible, I would like to have your home addresses, as its coming up to Christmas and I would so much like do a little something as a thank you. It will be a really little something mind you. just a token of my appreciation in the friendship and support you have all given me. If you don't feel happy about giving me your home addresses, I totally understand and would not be put out at all. As I understand Internet chat can be a "iffy thing" I feel quite safe with you all. I think we have built up great friendship and trust with one another.
Have a fabulous weekend everyone. I will be popping back on over the weekend to catch up with all.
Whoops forgot to say. I have changed banks, as from the 1st of October. I explained my whole situation to them and they were great and have said they will do all they can to help. My old bank were monsters and would not entertain helping me.
Lots of love and tons of hugs

Emmylou I agree with you it does make you more aware of how much gas and electricity you are using and makes you budget it more. i think what it was with me was. They were forced on me, as a way to pay my debts and it was a debtors thing to have pre paid meters. I do understand that a lot of people choose to pay this way as a way to budget there money and is a very good idea. But for me it was always a reminder of how useless i was with money, and I now feel much more able to deal with my money more sensibly. I am in no way knocking anyone uses this system as I have for 2 years now. It has taught me a lot. Every I had used up my gas and electricity emergency, and had to find money to top it up, it re mined me of how stupid I have been in the passed and vowed to never go through is again.
On more than one occasion I have had family or Friends at my house and knew the gas or electricity was low and was on tender hooks in case it went off, while they were here. I will never ever put myself through that pain again.
Its sooo good to get all this out, I love everyone of you for helping me to carry on.

aww see thats not so good wondering if it will run out
I guess i walk past the shop so often that its not a mission for me to go out and top up.
Yeay for the job interview!!! Fingers crossed and all that!0 -
Well done on the interview JO,
I have been for 3 interviews and countless agency registrations, nothing has come of it yet, but I will keep trying. The kinds of jobs I go for involve sales and company cars, so a lot of people are after them, I'll get something in the end.
I had prepayment meters in at one time as well, I had debts a lot of years ago and then kept them as I liked not having a bill. I got them removed last year as they were way too expensive, I seemed to be feeding them every day. I pay by direct debit now.
I would have a shop around and see if you can switch companies now to see if you can get a cheaper deal. try one of the comparison websites like uswitch or moneysupermarket and that should help you decide. If you do switch, some people go through one of the cashback websites like quidco and greasypalm to get cashback. Yes, they actually pay you to use their companies through these websites.
I learned that from the 4K a year crowd, they know all the ins and outs of saving.
I am knackered today, the 2 brothers next door to me decided to have a fight in the middle of the night, To cut a long story short, one of them smashed the other ones back car window and he got carted off by the police.
Another peaceful night in suburbia.............
Speak soon,

Hi ladies, I'm at work doing a bit of overtime, there isn't alot about at the moment so I'm grabbing all I can!
I'v had a bit of a naughty weekend so far cos I'v been with my fella who feed me masses of lovely food like sausage and mash and huge cheese & parma ham baggettes! Still I should have time to do a Davina workout tonight which will hopefully give me some encouragement for the week ahead!
Well done for the interview Jo!! that's great! Lynne, I'm sorry that it is taking you a while to get a job but I know the perfect one is just around the corner!
WTBAS, a while back we talked about having a girlie weekend in the spring, I hope lots of us can come, maybe we can organise SKPE or something for the people who can't come.
Jo, you really shouldn't be thinking about gifts, we're trying to stop overspending! But I would love to send cards to everyone, I'll PM you all closer to christmas xx0 -
WTBAS - being in N.I is no excuse lol, we just need to sort it out so that you can get dirt cheap flights for about the same price we will be paying on train/fuel. After all what else are ryan air 1p flights good for
will post a bit more later - just off for a nap lol0 -
Hi All,
IM BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK
Well, technically ive been back since Tuesday but ive been working hard and trying to sort everything out, its a month today since i became a single person again (i know im technically seperated now but i feel better saying single)
Ive been really bad with the spending and have ended up arranging a significant overdraft, but am now going to start working to clear it, and although ive gone a bit mad i know that its done me good to get out more etc.
On the food side ive lost half a stone, im now 13stone and althought thats over a stone over wieght (according to the chart thingy) i have lost 6 and a half stone since 2003 and apart from the extra lost this year ive maintained the loss for 18 months - to say im happy would be silly im EXTACTIC and feeling so confident ive even bought a very sexy fancy dress outfit for a friends party which looks amazing (even if i do say so myself)
Blue - well done on the interview and the meters etc, you are doing so well!! it really is inspiring!!!
lynne - keep looking, im sure the right job is out there waiting for you - hopefully the shop will start to pick up now that its getting clost to crimbo
