But I don't mind travelling - so don't worry about distance girls but thanks for thinking about me.

Me too would love to meet up. So how about we say Around next May and we all have a girlie fund account and we could make money for doing other stuff.
Like Jo can do alterations, or selling on ebay or other ways. and that money will go into the girlie weekend account - so that way it wont be touching our normal household or debt busting money.

    Are we all agreed

Yes, I agree to that, I can't wait it will be something to look forward to. And guess what.......... I've got another interview on Friday. I'm getting all these interviews coming out of nowhere, maybe I'll eventually get a job!!!

We will all need to come up with ideas of where to go and then decide. I've always wanted to go to York, I don't know why, I just fancy it. But I've also wanted to go to a west end show, but that would be way too expensive, unless tess wants about 15 lodgers:rotfl: :rotfl:

  • SL - London can be as cheap as you make it. Ok having to buy a tube ticket is almost unavoidable but you can get the best show tickets on the same day for £25 for a lot of shows :)
Theres a Jurys Inn in East Croydon that I love and its about £60 a night, you can get 3 people in a room easily though :) 4 if there r 2 skinny people to share a sofa bed lol

Oh, I just imagined it would be really expensive, so thats a turn up for the books. I think we could do a vote of where to go and take it from there, but I don't mind where really, I'm just looking for a good weekend!!:D

    Hi Guys!

Sorry I’ve been AWOL. After working all day Saturday, I felt really poorly on Sunday and spent most of the day in bed, catching up on sleep bed.gif (what a waste of my day off!), and then yesterday was really busy at work, followed by a late night supermarket trip shop.gif and straight to bed!

Lynne, good luck with the interview tomorrow, and all the other interviews – wow, its great that they are all coming in now… :T

Jo, thank you for sharing all of that information with us.grouphug3.gif I think this thread is great in that it lets us all say things we couldn’t say in “real” life to anybody else – I hope you feel really proud of yourself for starting this off…we would never have done it without your initial post. hi5.gif

    BF – I hope you’re having a fabulous birthday meal with Jon… :D

I’d love a girlie weekend (we can add my weird eating habits to everybody else’s strange habits – I promise I won’t make you all bob up and down under the table so I don’t look out of place!! :p :rotfl: ;) …although strangely, I feel that I would be able to eat with all of you – you already know my “issues” so I wouldn’t have a problem! biggrin.gif) – I am happy to travel anywhere…bringing a bottle of wine/DVD/board game/anything else I'm told to bring… thumbs%20up.gif

Jo, just wanted to say that I agree with others about the alterations. I work in Central London as a PA (not on anything like £40/hr, sadly!!), and took a top belonging to my boss to be "made smaller" a couple of weeks ago - as it was a big, baggy top with elasticated sleeves and waist, it basically involved shortening the inch-wide elastic in the sleeves and round the waist (you know the sort where the elastic is inside a "tube" of hem?!) - we needed 2 inches out of each sleeve and 4 inches off the waist, but it couldn't have been a more simple job (I even offered to handsew it, but my boss is slightly strange and insisted that it went to the alterations place where they have a sewing machine...?!?!).

It cost £20 (£5 per sleeve and £10 for the waist...). I nearly fell over!!!

I think the thing to remember is...the majority of people who use an alteration service have no idea how to even thread a needle, so you are providing an invaluable service which they can't get any other way. You have them "over a barrel" so to speak (not that I am suggesting you would rip people off :o, but it certainly seems to be the case in Central London from my experience...) - if you can offer a service that people "need" to use because they cannot provide for themselves...you have the upper hand! :D

    Get sewing, girl!!

  • Morning everyone!! Oooh a girlie weekend!! Sounds like fantastic fun, definatley discuss details nearer the time, but I now have something to put my penny jar towards :D

I had a fandabbydozy time with DH last night oooooh it was wonderful.

I went out with work about 4 months ago to a posh nosh hotel restuarant for lunch, had a pizza with parma ham on... they left some plastic on the ham!! I could have choked!! Anyway, long story short, their marketing manager ended up giving me a voucher for a meal for 2, up to the value of £60 because the staff didn't even apologise at the time (even though I complained:o :p ):D So, me being very mse, said we should save it for my birthday, as we would usually go to a 2for1 place or carvery and eat cheap for about £20/£30 all in, so rather than going to a cheap place for my birthday we could go to the expensive place (as the voucher didn't include drinks:rolleyes: ) and we could really have a smack up meal.

    It was deeelicious.
I'll give you the non-posh rendition of what we ate. I had seared (half cooked:p ) tuna on toast to start, with skinned cherry tomatoes:rotfl: and Jon had asparagus with poached egg (the asparagus was cooked to perfection, mmmm) with a funny but nice sauce.
For main, he had Tuna steak and I had chicken with a crushed tomato base, I ordered garlic mash with cheese and green veg; he had rosemary roast potatoes and garlic mushrooms.....

Sorry, are you all drooling now??!!!!:o Sorryeeeee:D

So, all that of course was free - so I felt like I could splash out, and I had a glass of wine that cost... wait for it:o

£11.95:eek:

ahum, anyway, the total we had to pay was £25.75 - which for a posh italian restaurant at a 5* hotel in the centre of Brum, was NOT BAD at all in my books!!

Speak to you all soon!! xxx
