This is my favourite thing to do with cooked fish at the moment.
Works really well for smoked mackerel too.
have it on some nice crispbreads with cucumber on the side0 -
Hi everyone,
My son a mad 6yr old decided he couldn't without trout. Me being a knucklehead bought a gutted trout (with head) out of MrM's. No idea what it tastes like eitherYes we know i'm not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Now i have no idea how to cook/bake etc trout, but i do have most ingedients at my disposable think the only thing i don't have is lime juice.. Got chillies, garlic, cumin, etc
So if anyone has any ideas i would be extremely grateful. My poor brain hurts thinking about it.0 -

Brilliant Zippy!!! Your a star!!
I did try and search the recipe bit but couldn't find anything about it.
Thanks!!!
P.S Is trout that bad0 -
No worries!
Ah, searching and not finding - this thread of squeakys is fantastic! Taught me how to search
It's not that it's bad, i'm just not overly a fish fan. I got some whoopsied rainbow trout (whole fish) but couldn't gut them and cut them up so donated them to my brother:o. I had previously tried rainbow trout fillet fried with pepper and lemon juice as garnish and it was delicious - I was quite surprised. I'm just squeamish at handling big monster fishys:oA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I like to stuff them with ricotta and red onion and then wrap them into a baking paper parcel with a splash of liquid and bake in the oven on number 4(180) for 20 or so minutes depending on size. You can leave the head on or just chop it off with a sharp knife if you don't like you dinner looking at you.0

As the title suggests I am after a bit of advice re the above, my lovely neighbour has just been round and given me 3 huge trout (I think!) as he had been fishing and can only eat so much, so I was wondering as there is too much for us to have in one sitting, would it be possible to freeze them? Thanks in advance!0

yes of course! Hope he cleaned and gutted them for you! if not its not difficult - just messy! if you need to know how to do this post back and I will try to explain.
to freeze them pat the fish dry and I like to wrap in cling film, but you can use baking parchment or greaseproof paper- then pop them in a large freezer bag and label with contents and date. then put in the coldest part of the freezer or switch on the fast freeze if you have it.
lucky you - my OH loves freshly caught trout!0 -
You can freeze them.
Cut them into portions & freeze each portion seperately to aviod waste.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0
