I'm glad this thread was moved to here as I don't venture into many of the other forums on MSE.

I'd definitely buy the book when it is published (power of positive thinking here), also this thread has made me want to wander over to wherever this thread originated to take a peek at some of the recipes already up.... erm.... :o just had a look at the forum list.... where is this wonderful mecca of recipes & stuff please? :o
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

Twink, I'll definitely buy it when it comes out!!! :)
I think it should be a cookery book and if after its roaring success it is decided that MSE should bring out an old style hints and tips for frugal living, using old style methods for cleaning, shopping etc etc-no doubt will invest in that too.
You see, these people who borrow books from the library are right that they are saving money but this cookery book will be an investment and with all the money people save by following the recipes in this book it will have paid for itself in a week or so :D

How about getting MSE friendly celebrities involved? (The lovely MSG for starters!) Vicky Bhogal who wrote "How to cook like Mummiji" did "A Fair Feast" and lots of celebrities contributed recipes. A catch up with and from Bernadette Lawrence who wrote "How to feed your family on £5 a day" back in the late 80s would be timely too. And to get Kim Woodward/Aggy McKenzie to contribute some housekeeping tips, particularly for people who are allergic to commercial, formulated cleaners.

I ate at Cha Cha Moon in London the other day where all main dishes (which were good generally) are £3.50 each. It made me think. We may have credit crunch but we still need to eat/consume/enjoy our lives, may be much more modestly than before but certainly a bit of creativity makes a lot of magic of the good as well as the cheap stuff.

i am sure Martin would have a few ideas but i think just a cookery book would be good, i have seen loads of recipes on mse that are quick, tasty, nutritious (weezels eg) and cheap

slow cooker recipes could be included, what would be better than coming home to a hot meal and they make cheaper cuts of meat so tender

not sure about celebrity recipes, would many of them have moneysaving recipes?

I am a definately a lurker on oldstyle thread and am ontop of weezle's latest thread and am going through old one and making & saving recipes. I'm also trying to keep up with the grocery challenge thread, but the thought of a book ohhhhhhhhhhh yes please, I think it's a FAB idea. The recipes & ideas on here are fab, trouble is there aren't enough hours in the day to keep on top of them all and go to work:D

    keep up the good work
