I have found from experience that my Zafira is quite happy with ASDA but runs poorly, with reduced MPG, when using Morrisons, Sainsbury or Tesco (diesel).

Don't know what the difference is between the fuels but this is from trying various supermarket fuels across the Midlands & North England, So it isn't limited to a single point of supply.

    I beg to differ to

I have a 3 year old diesel focus with nearly 100000 on the clock and it has had all sorts of diesel in it with no difference in performance or economy. It has had mostly supermarket fuel in and it cant be bad as the car still runs like new

if your zafiras engine is running poorly i would be getting it looked at rather than blaming the fuel you use.

I can imagine taking my car to a garage.
"Can you check my engine please it is running poorly. But only when I use Tesco, Morrison or Sainsbury fuel. It's fine with all others"

What do YOU think the answer will be?

If it ran poorly on most/all brands then I agree that I have a problem with the engine. However poor running on 2 or 3 brands says the opposite.

they will probably say "no problem sir,we have run our super placebo diagnostic check and found that the giggle pin was looser when you used tesco fuel hence the poor running,we have adjusted it and it is much smoother as you can hear, that will be £85 plus vat please"

    My apologies.

I didn't realise that because you do not have a problem everybody else is mistaken.

Can't say I've ever noticed a difference between suppliers, apart from the price

Weirdly, my car (10 years ols) coughs and burps when filled using Morrison's petrol (from either Gainsborough or Retford). If they collect the same fuel from the refinery then logically it must be the storage system - water ingress?

If that is the case then they have the same problem with their tanks at St Helens, Preston & Chester.

But there again, we could both be suffering from the same psychological problem as some on here seem to think.
