Im just telling the facts, it they want to delude themselves that they are saving money, fine. I like a bit of moneysaving too you know!!!!!!!Im a kiebee buzz,buzz!0 -
I'm not deluding myself - lets look at the facts as you say -
I use half a scoop of washing powder
I don't use a Calgon tablet
I live in a hard water area, YET my washing machine lasts for 10 years - even though I do at least 1 or 2 washes a day depending on sport.
sorry, but what am I missing and where am I being deluded?? I though that was pretty good going.

Ok, I know this will be deleted but I wan't people to read it and see sense!
Coming on here and saying that none of us can see sense is not necessary.Im just telling the facts, it they want to delude themselves that they are saving money, fine.
Keibee The facts are that our WMs are not breaking down from limescale damage and our clothes are clean. How is that being deluded?:A0 -
Having been told by a Maytag washing machine repair guy that the majority of problems in washing machines are caused by over dosing on powder I have always halved the amount stated on the box and then halved again. Result, clean clothes and no washing machine repairs, happy person.
Soft water area as is most of Scotland wouldn't know what limescale is0 -
Kiebee dont you think we already live in a heavily nanned country and do with really need random people coming on here to dictate how much soap we can put in our washing machines.
If you didn't notice the people on here have been doing what they do for a while so why should they change their opinions and way of doing things just because one person decides to spout off about it and the only evidence you have is a random website which is set up by a single "engineer".
so i think its time to let the bee in your bonnet go, as people are more than happy with what they are doing at the moment and just because people dont have an interest in changing to what you are telling them to doesn't make them deluaded and suggest that it is you that is deluaded, as how do you know that engineer is really an engineer and also the fact that you somehow dont understand the pretence in big brand company as business is business and the only way to be in business is to make money.0 -
I've always been OS, I follow after my mum. She always used a minimum of powder and so do I.
I got my washing machine for a wedding present, it filled with hot from the boiler (about 6' away so v little in pipe) and I alway only used about a tablespoon of powder. I washed terry nappies for four children and the machine lasted 22 years. It did get a small leak after 20 years but not more than one cloths worth to wipe up. Never needed a part in all those years.
We eventually re did the kitchen so I bought a more efficient up to date one. After 22 years I wasn't complaining and shall continue to [STRIKE]be mean with the powder[/STRIKE]think of the environment when using the powderDoing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
Everybody's entitled to an opinion but I really don't understand why anybody feels the need to *rant* about what somebody does with their washing?
So long as my smalls are clean, I really couldn't give a tinkers what anybody else is washing theirs with, much less get all irate about it!I just scoop powder in and spend time worrying about other stuff.

i think what people choose to do with their washing is up to them, not some ranting person on a message board, trying to dictate to people.Vegetarian's Do Not!!!! eat fish

Well - I'd love to know the truth! Just got a new washer - now I can put an 8kg load in - but I haven't been using extra washing powder.
However I do get problems with black mould - so when it's not in use I leave the filler drawer open to ventilate that area - because that's where I got mould in my old washer. I also frequently remove the drawer to dry it out.
I do a 60 degree wash once a week towels, tea towels, floorcloths and dusters.
We used to use calgon where I worked to soften water in a laboratory - and the water 'feels' softer when you touch it! Never used it in a washer though - but we're not particularly 'hard water' here.
What we need is an impartial expert.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
