They have a 37" 1080 TV at the same price.
The higher resolution screen SHOULD give you a better picture no matter what the source.

I think it is important that people DO advise about poor quality TV,s though.

It would be even better if they had actually seen a picture on the device in question before giving an expert opinion.

I would imagine that a number of such posters are talking from experience, I have a 23" Panasonic LCD TV with built in freeview upstairs the picture of which is far superior to the lesser make 32" LCD TV I have downstairs. ;)

Next time I buy a LCD TV for downstairs it will bea quality brand based on this experience. ;)

well only wanted to mention it as as a young family with kids we thought it was good enough for us and our budget and any picture quality is better than the crappy 32" big brick of a tv we did have! we dont think there is that much of bad quality and my mum has a more expensive 42" and i think ours nearly rates the same as hers, and the smile on my 10 year olds face when she can finally play her wii without having to squint at the small screen is worth every penny of the £359

    hey mary,

people on this site think that people have pockets lined with gold coins, well unfortunately those of us who are on the ground, have to budget our cash wisely, and sometimes we shop to a price, not too spec.

I did look at the TV you posted up, and i did like it. It was only that £130 more i could of got the item we really wanted, we decided that £130 extra is much better to struggle now, than always looking at the tv thinking we should of bought the other one.

The tv we chose was on a limit of less than £500 for a plasma in 42" with a named brand. If only we could of bought named stickers for the front.

Many thanks for the post, and alot of people have looked at it.

    Welcome to the forum..

    Regards,

    AliasOmega.

The main thing is that your happy with it Mary, and I am glad you are.

Us TV nerds are only trying to help when we point out that for a little more money "sometimes" you can get a much better TV.

For me TV quality is a BIG issue, for some people its hifi, for others a nice car, each to their own.

Personally when someone posts a bargain on here, I usually google the model number looking for tech info and engineers reports, and allso the opinion of joe public, I dont have to have actually SEEN the tv to tell if its a bad one. (wow I sound like I need to get out more)

I dont want to look into this model now as it sounds like you have already got it home, and you dont need anyone pointing out any flaws it might have.

Glad your pleased with it, Enjoy your new telly.

So why cant the people posting" bargains", or thinking of buying , Google round themselves, instead of waiting for people to criticize?

    its a good point.

But we are not criticizing, we are trying to help and advise on something we know about that the OP might not.

This is what I consistently hear about Tesco's Technika-branded TVs - in fact, I've not heard a bad word said about them. Compare this to other cheap brands like Acoustic Solutions, where opinion is split to say the least.

In my experience, the biggest problem you can have with an LCD TV is the picture quality through SCART. That's the area you'll see biggest improvement in if you buy an expensive LCD TV - but you'd be better off buying a cheap TV and using HDMI connections than buying a more expensive one and using SCART. DVD players and Freeview boxes with HDMI output are cheap these days.

I'd go for the 37" 1080p TV - apart from anything else, the vast majority of TVs that aren't 1080p have a resolution of 1366x768. The two HD resolutions are 1280x720 and 1920x1080 - you will get a better picture on a 1080p TV since its resolution is an exact match for 1080 broadcasts, and exactly 1.5 times 1280x720 in each direction. Scaling 1280x720 up to 1366x768 is messy - imagine running a laptop or TFT screen at anything other than its native resolution.
