Hello katiejones1

I'll move your thread to the 'Techie Stuff' board.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Regards

What sort of website, just a static site advertising your services, a dynamic site which content changes (based on underlying data/databases), a shopping cart/selling website?

There are many questions and factors to consider. First the design, if it's for a business you'll need to think about employing a decent designer, then you need webhosting space, a domain name - but all depends on your requirements.

Hi, you'll get loads of advice here. What kind of a business is it? I know you might want to keep the idea under your hat, but does the website need to:
1) Sell goods on the internet?
2) Advertise a service you offer?
3) "Other"

Please give as much information as you can. Feel free to talk in vague terms, but tell us what the site needs to do.

Be very careful OP, it can be very expensive to set up a website and if you cut corners to get it cheaper, you can end up wasting your money and being back to square one....

Anyone can claim to be a web designer, but you can end up with a great site, or a rubbish one without even realising until its too late.

Also, a website is useless if no-one knows its there, you will need to think seriously about how you will promote it, because if no one visits it, you've wasted your money...

Anyway as above, can you let us know what you intend to use the site for???

Also, when you say "need to create a website" do you mean "pay someone to create a website for you" or do you mean "create my own website"?

MORPH3US spot on, nothing worse than a poorly crafted website, will make you and your company look unprofessional.

Go back and review the questions above, then we collectively will be able to offer some more advice!

Hi

Thanks for shifting my post to an area where responses were more likely.

Thanks for all the responses, i am looking for a site that people create an acount on and have their "my account" area etc.

I wasnt looking to do it myself, i think i would be paying someone to do it(could your OH have a look at one of these sites and provide a quote?), i would like a site with the capabilities of nextgen.giveaway.com or !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, a similar set up to those.
