finanlly managed to get some cheap whole wheat at a local pet shop. 3 kilos for about £1.65!! bought some chea fleece ametrial to make them and my dad made me put a scrap in the microwave as he reckins that fleece is made from plastic and so will burn. Put it in for 10 minutes which is way beyond how long a wheat bag will go in without anything happening to it. Spent today making 6 wheat bags with some lavender oil added to wheat and some lavender buds from garden. my roon smells lovely now!!0

I saw some fake fur(short haired!) and thought it would be nice but did wonder if it would survive the microwave. Might have to get a swatch now and try!

Hi there,
We buy wheat for our hens as 'hen corn' and it comes at £6 per sack (and the nice man at the farm shop loads it into the boot of the car for me. What a great idea - i can just pinch it from the hens.
As for the weevils: you can kill the eggs by putting the wheatbags in the freezer, I think, just like weevils in flour, or I should imagine that a stint in the microwave when you finish them would also do it!Jan 2012: CC £2,340.30, 2nd mortgage £22,932, Mortgage £57,5380 -
