They don't look that cheap to me - you could definately make cheaper than this but you have missed the whole point, if you read above the OP has said they know that they may be able to buy them cheaper but wants to make them. Making them yourself is so much more personal and you can choose the shape, size, pattern and fragrance to suit to recipient.

You are totally right...........and If i wanted my mum to have a wheat bag which looked like it had been made out of 1990's caravan curtain material i would deffo use that site you mentioned!
Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

You can make them look very professional. I made lots one year for presents using left-over corduroy material from John Lewis in bright funky colours. Don't over-fill with wheat or it won't have much give. I added sprigs of lavender and essential oil. Also, when sowing the big rectangular ones it is good to sow a couple of lines down the middle of the rectangle, crreating "channels" (parallel with the long sides iyswim) as then the wheat stays more evely distributed throughout.

You can buy very cheaply at craft fairs but yes, the fabric used is sometimes a bit naff. :D

Oh - and if you buy a big bag of wheat watch out for the weevils! I couldn't figure out where these hundreds of little black beetles were coming form for weeks until I tracked them all down to a bag of forgotten wheat in the back of my airing cupboard!

YUK!!! How can you stop these from being/developing in the wheatbags you make?

Not having much luck finding wheat to buy to make the bags. I had a look in Holland and Barrett and in Asda and had a search online also. Has anyone managed to buy a bag of wheat and if so where from. Thanks!
