You can buy it in Countrywide Farmer stores. http://www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk/pws/Home.ice
Have searched for wheat but not getting anything come up????0 -
I've made these using 2 X 500g bags of wheat bought from the local health shop. I make an inside bag made of cheap cotton sheeting material & then make a cover like a pillowcase to go on the outside. That way, if it gets dirty (and if children use them, they do get dirty), you can take the cover off & wash it.
I try to but material in the charity chops, or fents from the curtain stall in the market.
Size wise, I make them about 18" X 4".
I've given these as presents & they are always well received.0 -

Is this the Tesco Bulgar Wheat 500g? I tried searching online and there is nothing that is just called "wheat" - it's all puffed wheat, bulgar wheat, wheat bran, etc. I'm sure it's obvious but not to me!0 -

I looked in Tesco and I couldn't see any wheat. It's not the bulgar wheat you need. I went to an Asian supermarket and got mine. Still have to make the bags though!!0 -

Does anybody know if you can use pearl barley as a substitute? I heard it somewhere and so I bought enough to do several bags, and now I can't find out if it's right or not! What I do know you mustn't use is popping corn...

I finally tracked down down wheat at a home brew shop although its not the cheapest (60p for 500g) but am going to have a go. Does anyone make these with a removable cover or not? I had a shop made one bought for me some years ago and this had an inner fleecy kind of cover and it was then put into an outer cotton material one. Does anyone do this or are they generally made with just one (patterned) cover?0
