How BT are doing them at under £6 is beyond me though.

I am guessing here, but suspect I might be right.

BT and HP have a massively wide-ranging business relationship (in areas nothing whatsoever to do with ink jet cartridges). Since HP's main profits actually do come from ink jet cartridges (check their Annual Report for details), I could imagine that they provide BT with massive quanitities of cartridges, at what appear rock bottom prices. However, HP probably still make a very healthy cut (as will BT, no doubt) because they can save a lot on shipping and administration.
  • Hello. This is my first post.
I had done a search in this thread for such keywords as: "45", "expiration" and "expiry" and the search came up with no hits.

I have heard two things about HP cartridges.

I have heard that they have a special mechanism or a chip that causes the cartridges to fail (whether or not there is ink left) if a certain expiration date passes.

Then recently I heard that the HP 45's and the 78's and a few other ones do have an expiration date but they will not fail if the cartridge is used past the date.

    Please post any experiences.

    Thanks, in advance, Monica
  • Hi, I spent a long time yesterday checking all the sites mentioned on this thread for cartridges for my HP PSC 2355p all-in-one printer. I then tracked down this great deal online at PC World. (Sorry I don't know which cartridges are included in the deal but mine were!) I used Greasy Palm, reserved them online then went to my nearby branch to collect and pay for them today. Even the assistant was amazed by how much cheaper they were than the shop price.

    Worth checking?!

Thanks for this. I have the same all in one and paying just under £10 is the cheapest!

I usually pay £11.99 from Touchstone Resources.

I stupidly (?) bought two lots of each of these cartridges ages ago, the expiry date is November 2002. Put the second lot into my printer only last month, and all seems fine. Except, there is a constant message on the printer saying "realign cartridges" - which I did a few times, but the message doesn't go away, and everything prints just perfect. So I'd say you can use cartridges with expired dates.
  • Hi folks,

anyone knows of cheap places for HP Photosmart 7762 cartridges? Black and Colour ones?

    Cheers!

After checking all the sites mentioned in Martin's original post, I've ordered my 56, 57 & 58 cartridges from

    https://www.pricestorm.com

    HP 56 was £10.99
HP 57 was £10.99 including free HP Premium Paper (60 sheets)
    HP 58 was £13.99
Postage is £1.49 for any size of order.

I did manage to find the 56 & 58 cheaper at PCWorld (thanks to the post above for suggesting checking them - don't think I would have thought of it.) There the 56 was £9.28 and the 58 was £11.86 - their postage is more expensive at £3.99, but you can reserve them to collect instore & save on that (don't have a local store nearby, but I was pleased enough to get the 57 so cheap & with free paper!)

    Hope this helps someone!

Might be an idea to check this other thread if you're considering ordering the HP 57 offer from pricestorm (seems there's a bit of confusion as to whether or not the cartridge is a standard 57 or has less ink - I've emailed pricestorm to find out):

"HP 57 Colour Ink Cart, £10.99 with FREE HP Photo Paper! £1.49 delivery (not so good!)"
