Best of luck with the credit score.. doesn't seem to favour stoozers.
    130% salary stoozed*.
    250% salary as available credit.
7 or 8 active credit cards.
6 current accounts (2 with unused overdrafts totalling £3K)

    * I have loads of savings(!), but if your experience is anything to go by it's not looking good is it?

I'm only at 45% salary stoozed and 75% salary as available credit, 8 active cards and 3 current accounts (1 overdraft not reported). Suspect the main problem was 3 (successful) applications in June and another 3 (successful) applications back in March.

As mentioned previously, no facility for declaring savings etc... CSA was very nice but had no power to override system (or didn't believe me!).

Depends on why they declined you the first time, if there is nothing obvious on your credit report I would probably wait a little longer, (obviously with the risk of the deal being withdrawn). Different establishments have different scoring systems so acceptance by one doesn't guarantee acceptance by another. Did you ask for an overdraft with A&L? If not the scoring may have been less harsh.

How do you obtain the branch phone-number? Using the branch locator displays (0845) 7 212 212 for every branch.

Telephone number on the OP's post. You don't need to open the account with your local branch.

    Account opened this lunchtime.
Pleasant experience, cup of coffee, etc.
No hard sell (in fact no sell at all) for other products.
No 'advertising' of the £100 offer in branch.
No paperwork issued, everything comes in the post.
No need to credit the account today.
Was assured I'd get the £100 within a month of my first deposit (doesn't matter to me whether it's one month or three as long as it's paid).
£100 will be paid into the Savings Plus account.

I'd give them 9.5 out of 10 (I had to remind them the £200 overdraft wasn't "interest free" as the advisor said, but "fee-free" ;)).

Didn't realise that - I phoned that number and it was definitely a local accent at the other end - perhaps they use smart routing based on your CLI? (ie, your number) - if so, that wouldn't work if you withold your number or use a mobile.

Or maybe they have a cunning linguist answering the phone and wait until you speak and emulate your accent?

I wondered about that - so if you use it, do you pay interest? I don't generally use overdrafts and was surprised that A&L seem to charge interest on your overdrawn balance and a flat fee for daring to use it! (except in the first year of their current account, it seems).
